Yet the fortified city will be desolate, the habitation forsaken and left like a wilderness; There the calf will feed, and there it will lie down and consume its branches. Isaiah 27.10

The prophet Isaiah predicted that Jerusalem would be lonely, because those who were supposed to run it well got involved in practices forbidden by God. Those who do not fear the Lord will certainly be in the crosshairs of evil tricks, the same tricks that afflict those who engage in evil deeds in the sight of the Most High. Now, this led the people to suffer the strictness of the prophesied punishment: captivity for 70 years. Why reject the law of the Lord?

After the forced exodus to Babylon, the city of the Great King became a rejected and abandoned place. Let this serve as a warning to those who disregard the Word of the Most High! It says that they are destined to eternal damnation (1 Corinthians 6.9,10; Revelation 21.8; 22.15). Today, many houses built by those who reject the Lord – even with state-of-the-art technology that makes everyone marvel at – will become dwellings without residents, because no one will want to buy them. The future of humanity without God will be the saddest possible. Wake up!

Where do people think they will go when Jesus comes to meet the false prophet, the man of sin, who will be killed with the breath of the Lord? (2 Thessalonians 2.7-12). Now, many who have studied in the best schools in the world do not believe the Word. This occurred in Judah, which had obtained “better” teachers than God, and for them, the biblical threats were nothing more than the declarations of fanatics. Spiritual blindness is the worst thing there is! Believe!

Disregarding divine advice is to consciously err. Now, when a person hears the Lord for the first time, they know that His Word is the Truth. However, many don’t want to believe in It, preferring to continue in the easy life, provided even by resources from shady sources. It is known that power corrupts, and almost always, when someone is invested in a position of authority, they soon feel superior than the others, far above the law. Is that right?

If Jacob´s sons had listened to the Lord, they would never have left the nation’s capital nor would they have been harassed by Nebuchadnezzar’s soldiers. Wasn’t the story of the deliverance a hundred years earlier, when Sennacherib, the king of Assyria, besieged Jerusalem and offended the God of Israel, strange to them? He only didn´t succeed because the prophet Isaiah and King Hezekiah united in prayer, and God acted against the petulant ruler (2 Kings 19.1-7).

Isaiah uses the figure of Jerusalem to speak of it as the vine of red wine, which symbolizes the present Church of Christ, which would be weakened by the carnality worked in the children of error. Unfortunately, this already exists within congregations. The Truth must be preached, for there are those who change the glory of God into things of the anathema: and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things (Romans 1.23). Be vigilant!

This is a time of trials already prophesied. One needs to go to the Word of the Lord to know how to get out of the devil’s provocations. Isaiah sought God’s guidance and instructed the king of Judah to disdain the threat of the “great” Sennacherib. This caused him to speak that which would lead him to see Sennacherib´s best soldiers die by the work of God’s angel. The Father takes care of His own!
