Then I took your father Abraham from the other side of the River, led him throughout all the land of Canaan, and multiplied his descendants and gave him Isaac.

Joshua 24:3

In this passage there are four important facts upon which we need to meditate. First we see God stating He took Abraham – the patriarch of the Hebrews who lived in the other side of the river, in a region overwhelmed by evil. In fact, that man’s entire generation was involved in works of sorcery, but even so that servant of the Lord departed from sin, which pleased the Most High. Likewise, those who want to gladden the Almighty must shun everything that is wrong and seek the divine presence.

I took Abraham – The calling of that servant of God was not by chance, and yours too will not happen without planning. To start with, the Most High leads us to understand His plan; then, depending on the way we conduct ourselves after heeding His Word, He will continue to speak or keep silent. Never stop doing what God tells you because He can let you know more of His wonderful will.

The divine calling was the redemption Abraham needed. My brethren, your deliverance will also take place the moment our Lord issues His calling for you. Some are commissioned by God to have a ministry, others to occupy many different positions. Whatever position they hold, all those who belong to Him are called to engage in his work, to speak of God\’s love and live in holiness. When we accept Jesus as our Savior He performs the first of His works in our lives, which is to take us out of the power of darkness and deliver us into the Kingdom of Freedom!

I led him throughout all the land of Canaan – Like Abraham, we must walk throughout all the land of the promise. Actually, the Lord wants to unveil to us all the wonders of His kingdom. However, those who choose only a portion of these blessings will never see the grandeur of God. Therefore, seek to know the doctrine of holiness, healing, forgiveness and prosperity because in so doing you will be used by the Father.

I multiplied your descendants – God told the patriarch that He would multiply his descendants. Although Sarah, Abraham\’s wife, was barren and well advanced in age, the promise according to which a great nation would come forth from that couple was guaranteed (Genesis 17:15-16). Likewise, your spiritual seed will be multiplied, therefore strive not to get to the Heavens empty-handed. The talents should not be returned as they were given to you, but rather multiplied (Matthew 25:14-31).

And I gave him Isaac – The Bible says that the Lord visited Sarah, and as He had promised, she conceived and gave birth to a son who was named Isaac (Genesis 21:1-3). My brethren, who is your \”Isaac,\” the heir of the promise? It can be either a natural son or a child in faith. The important thing is that you have generated him in the Kingdom of God and His glory will be greater if the child is faithful and obedient to the Lord!

In Christ with love,
