“Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.” (Romans 6:12)

The children of God who have problems concerning the unrestrained lusts of the flesh aren’t few. In spite of being new born Christians, the desires of the flesh are so ardent inside of them that sometimes they fall prey to mental or physical transgressions. When that happens, they feel the most miserable people on earth; they get upset, depressed, they confess to God and promise they will not do that again. Nevertheless, when they are faced with a temptation they slip and fall.

What happens to those lives? Haven’t they been delivered from the kingdom of darkness? Haven’t they been taken into the Kingdom of Light? Or is it that the Gospel isn’t the power of the Lord? I hope these studies may be of help to many children of God so that they are not carried away by the enemy’s deceits. In fact, it takes one attitude for a Christian to be delivered from evil practices.

The verse mentioned above states that we must prevent iniquity from reigning in our mortal bodies; that’s the decision we have to make! At first, for being subjected so long to the “allures” of sin, the sinful Christians will find it a bit difficult to mend their ways. Yet, if they make the decision of not allowing transgression to reign in their body and to stand firm in that position, they’ll realize that the unrestrained desires won’t control them any longer. The devil flees those who resist him (James 4:7).

The fleshly lusts are like any other sin. Those who smoke, for instance, will only realize how much the addiction to cigarettes has enslaved them when they decide to quit. The same happens to those who are on drugs, or those who lie or those who have any other addiction. Even a type of food may become the lord of our will if we can’t stop eating it every day and once we run out of it we go to any length to obtain it. Some will do anything to get it. The same happens to those who are hooked up to sin. Iniquity causes a maddening passion in its servants’ hearts and that disagreeing feeling can overcome reasoning and good sense by leading mature people to behave in a manner which is thoroughly opposite to the Word of God.

If you’re living that way, take the Lord’s guidance immediately. Enter into prayer, confess your error to Him, ask Him for forgiveness and rebuke the enemy. If you prevail over that transgression, it won’t dominate you any longer. Remember, the wages of sin are death but the free gift of God is eternal life (Romans 6:23).Take possession of it right away!

In Christ, with love,
