Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.

Psalm 95:2

Do not wait for the Lord God to call you for you to present yourself to Him because it is up to you to draw near Him. We cannot forget what the Word says in John 19:11a:  we could have no power at all against Him unless it had been given us from above. So, when you feel the desire to seek the Father, do it because it is a sign that He has already \”warned\” you that it is time to stand before Him. With the divine touch, albeit subtle, we are allowed to come before our Creator’s presence to give ourselves over to Him and do His will.

If our country went to war, the government would require military personnel to present themselves in the barracks. And many people, though not being drafted, could willingly make themselves available to serve the motherland. So, whether they are summoned or whether it is out of their own free will, those who enlist must submit to official orders. So whenever you feel the divine call or you fill the urge to volunteer, bear in mind that from then on you no longer belong to yourself, but to the \”country\” that will use you as it pleases.

It is very important to point out that those who come to the Lord’s presence must do so with joy and praises. So do not ever stand before God with a sad countenance, crestfallen or in low spirits. What you have to do is to tell Him how much He has helped you, and that you believe in the fact that He can assist you. In so doing you will please the Most High with your acknowledgment. However, do not even think of feeding Him cheap flattery as if God had some kind of deficiency or would be happy with empty words.

In saying we should praise Him, the Almighty is not showing weakness or flaws; after all, He has neither. As a matter of fact the praise we give Him makes a far greater good to us than to Him, that’s why our praises for what He is and the things He does must always be done with a thankful and cheerful heart. Praise is like food for our soul.

You can write songs to God, but it is better to celebrate Him with psalms for these sacred hymns have a great anointing. When we sing them to the Most High our mouth is filled with happiness, our hearts absorb so much of the Lord we become much better people than we have been hitherto. Celebrating with inspired songs – the Psalms – renews our spirit and enables us to fully grasp the anointing of the Word.

So the next time you praise the Almighty, do it with statements contained in the Scriptures and see how much you grow spiritually because your spirit will be strengthened with the praise that originates from God\’s own heart.

In Christ with love,

R. R. Soares
