Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, And He saved them out of their distresses.  Psalm 107:13

The children of Israel were captives in Egypt, but God remembered the promise made to the patriarch Abraham and raised Moses to bring them to the land that flowed with milk and honey, a symbol of the eternal abode of the saved. As they walked, they faced a series of temptations that greatly made them suffer. Some were not mature in confidence, so they contaminated others, who also murmured as they saw the difficulties come.

Their walk toward Canaan looks like ours toward heaven. Just as they had some distressing problems, so do we. But we must believe that our course is perfect, because we follow in the footsteps of Jesus. Although we do not see them, we walk in the paths opened by the Savior, and surely if we remain faithful to Him, we will arrive safe and sound.

Israel faced many situations that seemed impossible to overcome. We will also go through times of tribulation and distress. God led His people through the wilderness for 40 years. Now the desert is an inhospitable place to walk and live. However, the Hebrews had to dwell in the wilderness on their pilgrimage. Do not panic! When God is with you, anywhere becomes good for everything.

They needed to be prepared to enter the new earth, just like us. However, we must be firm in the faith; After all, our Trainer and Master is complete in leading us safely. In any trial, do not despair or be distressed. Otherwise, you will prove that you do not love the Lord, and in doing so the enemy will seek to touch every area of your life.

God’s people had problems with lack of water, food and medical resources, for example, when poisonous snakes appeared in large numbers and bit them, and they soon died. However, the Lord provided healing for all by a simple act of faith. Don’t worry about what the devil tries to do to you. When you feel that he is behind the situation, use the authority of the Name of Jesus and get rid of the evil that attacks you.

In addition to God’s purpose for allowing bad things to happen to the Israelites as a lesson to them and teaching them to trust Him, one of the things that caused them trouble was sin. It has also oppressed us and made us suffer greatly. Many say that in their case there was no hidden sin, but the Bible says adultery can occur even when looking at someone with unclean intent (Matt. 5:28).

The answer to our crises is the same as the people in the desert have learned: to cry unto the Lord in trouble. The Hebrews learned this truth. Thus, whenever they prayed to the Most High, they were heard and made free from their adversities. Have you left any windows open in your soul? Give yourself to the Lord in prayer, and He will give you the refreshment.

In Christ, with love,

Oh God! We are assured by the Word that no harm will come to us as long as we live in holiness and submission to Your plan. In biblical language this is dwelling in Your hiding place and resting in Your shadow.

The Israelites went through great trials when it seemed that hope was over. However, as they cried to Thee, they saw how simply looking at the metal serpent overruled the poison of the vipers. We want to look at Jesus!

In order not to be decimated, they had to trust Moses, their envoy. So they managed to beat those tough times. He has never heard of such a large people, who lived in the desert for so long, as it did with Israel. Amen!
