“Moses and Aaron were among His priests, and Samuel was among those who called upon His name; they called upon the LORD, and He answered them.” (Psalm 99: 6)

The people of God can enjoy a great deal of promises made by Him. Yet, a slight ordeal is enough to shake some of His children to the point of wrongly thinking that they don’t deserve to be answered and that the Most High doesn’t love them any longer. On top of that, they think that the servants of the Lord in the past got better answers from Him than themselves today – though they don’t know how to explain that way of thinking – That’s not true!

The same good things that happened in the biblical times do happen today as well, but we’re more privileged than them because we’re living the New Covenant which was established with better promises. So, why isn’t God hearing us today? Why isn’t He speaking to us? Simply because we’re not doing what must be done! Those who served our Creator at that time did believe in Him and they prayed to be answered. Many people do intercession work today, but do they really expect to get any answer from the Most High? Well, our Heavenly Father is fully committed to His own Words. He promised He’ll listen to us and that we’ll be answered, so that’s exactly what He’ll do.

Moses and Aaron were used to take the Israelites out of Egypt; they cried out and the Lord listened to them. Now, watch out! He only heard prayers related to the ministry they were given. Isn’t that the answer to our question above? The Lord will answer us if we cry out for His hand to assist us in the mission we were appointed to accomplish. The Israelites didn’t pretend they were praying and they weren’t interested in anything else apart from fulfilling the task assigned to them. So, they turned to the Lord in prayer and they were always assisted whenever they needed help. The same happens to all those who do what they’re told!

Samuel – the last of the judges, who was also a priest, a Prophet, a man of God – didn’t fail to do his job. He was an ordinary man like any other one; he even went too far at times: when he was in search of Jesse’s son to be anointed king, he let himself be carried away by Eliab’s appearance (I Samuel 16: 1 – 13). Yet, reprimanded by the Lord (verse 7), he surrendered to the divine instruction and the fruit of obedience can now be seen in David. He cried out and prayed and God listened to him.

There’s no reason to believe that our beloved Father won’t listen to all those who cry out for His mercy today. The answer might not come the way we’d like it to come, but we must remember that the children of Israel cried out to Him because of the Midianites and the answer came through a Prophet who made them renew their covenant with God (Judges 6). That’s how Gideon came up; he delivered his people (Judges 7).

My brother, the Lord wants you to fully understand this, so now you can cry out to Him! If you act accordingly, He will listen to you. His Light is already shining and His work is already being fulfilled in your life. It’s up to you now to take the right attitude so that the liberating power of the Most High will come into action in your favor!

In Christ, with love,
