“Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and also put it in writing, saying,” (Ezra 1:1)
God will do anything to fulfil His promises and nothing happens without His approval – not even a ruler becomes a powerful leader if that’s not our Father’s will. He stirs up the spirit of those the Lord wants to use and the wise ones obey Him.
In fact, no divine prophecy will ever fail because all the words the Almighty God speaks are words of truth. In the passage above we can see that the very thing which seemed to be impossible was fulfilled in Cyrus’ first year of government. Being at the beginning of his government, that monarch might have had many issues to solve, but even so he promptly obeyed the divine command by allowing the Jews to leave their exile in Babylon to go back to Jerusalem with the purpose of rebuilding the temple of the Lord.
My brethren, nobody can hinder our Father’s operation whenever He decides to put a plan into practice. So, we mustn’t be frightened by someone’s arrogance or threat whoever they might be. Nothing goes unnoticed in the eyes of the Lord! You might find it hard to believe but at all times all rulers who were or are – or will be – in the command of any people were only able to reach that position with God’s consent. Moreover, we can say that each nation has the ruler they deserve for the permission that comes from the Heavens relies on the faith and the love that the nation has towards the Father.
We shouldn’t be fatalistic, but the Lord does allow some bad occurrences to take place for His plan to be fulfilled. So, wouldn’t it be way better if we sought the Lord for the best choice instead of supporting this or that candidate? Undoubtedly, that would be the ideal thing to do, but that’s not what we do. That’s why we’re always having trouble.
The awakening of Cyrus’ spirit is God telling us that He can do the same today. Who could have said that the “Iron Curtain” would fall down? But it did! The same happens to those countries that seem to never let the Good News be spread out in their territory. Well, I’m absolutely certain that in places where it is now difficult to spread the Gospel there’ll be servants of the Most High announcing the Way to those who have been spiritually oppressed for centuries.
Those who are wise always say “yes” to what the Heavens tell them to do, just like Jeremiah did when he opened up his mouth to convey a divine message to Cyrus. So, at the right time, the Most High came into action to fulfil that prophecy. My brethren, always bear in mind that the Words of God will never fail to be fulfilled. Believe in everything He tells you because the Lord will never fail to honor the Words His lips announce.
In Christ, with love,
R. R. Soares
