When you go out to battle against your enemies, and see horses and chariots and people more numerous than you, do not be afraid of them; for the LORD your God is with you, who brought you up from the land of Egypt.

Deuteronomy 20: 1

Had the Creator not carried on speaking, the promise above – which has in itself the necessary power to lift up those who are fallen or those who’ve lost heart – would be enough to turn anyone into a winner. Those who have The Lord Almighty by their side will always experience Him wrestling on their behalf; consequently, they will never need to give up on life nor will they have to accept that which apparently is true.

Though the enemy’s expertise might seem to be stronger than yours, and his soldiers more numerous than ours, and also though they might seem to be more trained to defeat you God tells you not to fear him. Now, of course that trusting in The Most High will always be the best bet rather than listening to the threats against your life spoken by the defeated one; after all, the devil has already lost the battle since he’s now stripped of the authority he had to oppress you. Actually, The Bible states that as Jesus was going back to The Heavens He took into captivity the captive (Ephesians 4; 8).

Fear is the very door the devil asks you to keep open. Thus, he’ll be able to go inside your life and carry out the work of destruction which, if that is the case, has already started. The spiritual realm is similar to the physical one: if our immunological system is strong all diseases – such as a cold or any other one – which might attempt to get inside our bodies will not prevail; likewise, provided we’re standing firm in faith the devil will neither succeed in affecting us nor in making us suffer.

Those who have been assaulted by the powers of darkness and, for that reason, are facing any sort of suffering in their body, soul, in their family, in their finances or in any other area of their life ought to turn to God in prayer and ask Him for forgiveness for having feared or turned away from Him. Next, they need to turn also to The Word considering that The Lord will show them what error they’re committing. Undoubtedly, a curse without a cause will never be fulfilled (Proverbs 26: 2). That means that there will always be an evil operation working against you but if you stand firm by The Law it will not prevail.

Satan’s operation might be so threatening that even the most positive people get to the point of filling their minds up with fearful thoughts but we have no reason to follow suit since God’s our Shield. On the contrary, we have a commandment which says that we mustn’t fear our enemies. That’s the very secret the heroes of faith also knew. Therefore, if you really want to become a winner in all senses you have to be obedient to The Words of The Lord.

In the biblical times The Israelites became slaves in the most powerful nation of the world. For them, humanly speaking, there was no possibility of being delivered – they’d lost hope – from that evil empire but The Lord took upon Himself their pains and, with His strong arm, He led them straight into freedom (Exodus 13: 9), and never again were they oppressed by The Egyptians. Yet, The Israelites experienced oppression once more – this time by other people which is much worse – as they disobeyed The Lord.

God did something greater on our behalf: He took us out of the kingdom of hell by breaking down Satan’s strongholds along with all of his demons. Therefore, my prayer is that you may never fear the enemy again and that you may never forget that our Father is The One who has set you free.

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares
