“And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ.” (I Corinthians 3: 1)
Paul could’ve given more to his Corinthian brothers. Likewise, our being narrow-minded disables the Lord to give us more. Yet, we’ll cheer up our Father’s heart if we’re wise (Proverbs 23: 15). So, we need to mature our living in faith and not to frustrate the Most High because there’s much more ahead.
The Apostle Paul’s visit to those brothers could’ve been more profitable for their development; but unfortunately they were in the flesh. So, the amazing knowledge of the Holy Spirit granted to Paul couldn’t be transmitted precisely for that reason; therefore, he had to convey simple messages from God. The same will happen to us unless we mature spiritually. We must remember that the biblical principle is about giving more to those who’ve got more (Luke 12: 48).
We mustn’t deny that what happened in the church of Corinth is a reality in our churches now. Even educated people, College graduates, wise mainstream men and women, haven’t paid heed to that fact. Sadly, many are more interested in the news that someone will pray for the sick, and that they’ll shake or challenge people to make better offerings with the promise that those who do that will surely prosper. When someone grows up spiritually they leave behind the babe issues to live at the highest level.
Well, the heart of any father rejoices when his son becomes a wise man in several fields of life. The same goes for God who’s our True Father. So, we’ll make His heart rejoice provided we’re wise. As a Christian finds out their rights in Christ, the servant of the Lord learns that He is good and that His gifts will never be denied to those who walk on the way of righteousness. (Psalm 84: 11) Having the Most High joyful with us, it’ll take only a simple faith for us to take possession of our ownership.
Don’t beg for blessings! Grow up spiritually and you’ll enjoy all of the divine promises. Everything the Lord has promised is already fulfilled by Him. When God doesn’t operate in the life of any of His children, he or she is still under the domain of flesh. On the other hand, as they develop spiritually, the servant of God begins enjoying the abundant life truly brought by Jesus (John 10: 10). How have you been living? Isn’t it high time you assumed your stand in Christ?
The Lord will be frustrated with the way you serve Him if you don’t grow in faith. The heroes of faith in the past were so brave to the point of frightening even their enemies. As a little boy, yet, a grown-up in the presence of God, David didn’t hesitate or spend hours in prayer to know the right moment to face the giant. He ran towards Goliath the moment he appeared (I Samuel 17).
That’s the way our Father wants to see you behaving! There’s much more from the Most High waiting for you than what you’ve experienced so far. Grow up and get it!
In Christ, with love,
R. R. Soares
