Now when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, so that the eunuch saw him no more; and he went on his way rejoicing. Acts 8:39

When we follow the Lord’s guidance, we know when it’s the best time to evangelize someone. With the wisdom that God gives to everyone who asks for it, we will be able to illuminate people’s way (James 1:5). The divine plan for those who obey the heavenly calling is wonderful and full of power. All those who are called and sent by the Most High for a mission must believe that He will use them as He used others in past generations.

Philip was a servant who obeyed his lord, so he was put in the right place. He who doesn’t heed what the Holy Spirit tells him through the Word doesn’t have God’s hand leading him into doing His will. Those who are called today will have the same treatment given to those who said yes to the Most High in their day. So never refuse the mission given by the Lord.

Success depends on the submission to God’s Spirit. The wisdom to do the work is a gift the Father never fails to grant to those who are faithful to Him. Those who are careless, those who have no zeal towards what is entrusted to them, won’t know how to lead the lost to the Lord and right at the crucial moment they will use their own words instead of God’s Word. Those who are obedient to God stand out from the others because of the results they obtain.

Philip went down to the waters to baptize the eunuch. He knew he was a minister of the Lord in action, no matter where the Most High took him. The servants of God must focus on getting the complete message across, and in so doing the lost will find the eternal Way. For the evangelist, what matters is to be sent out for a mission, not to where he is sent. When preaching, Philip didn’t brag about his virtues or speak of his own life; rather, he announced Jesus Christ.

Philip, the evangelist, was about to take over his position in the divine plan, so when getting out of the waters, the Holy Spirit caught him away from the presence of the eunuch and, in a split second, led him to Azotus to continue the work. It doesn’t matter how long you stay in a place, but whether God sends you out into another stage of the mission to be performed. Those who obey the Lord will never regret to be faithful.

The result was that the eunuch was joyful and went on his way pleased to have received such treatment from God. It seems that Philip’s rapture was more exciting for the eunuch than for the evangelist, since we don’t see any comments on Philip being filled with joy for such event. The fact is that the servant must always be ready to do what pleases the Father and not what he would like to do, or what his partner or family wants.

How many eunuchs or teachers, priests, and other people need to have the same experience that the eunuch of the Ethiopian queen had? Assuredly, many lives will praise God because you went out to meet them. So allow yourself to be used by the Lord and you will never regret it. The Almighty can take care of all those who are willing to do His will.

In  Christ with love,

God of miracles! When we see in Your Word that we are called to deliver the message that works, heals the sick, frees the troubled and lead people to salvation in Jesus, we feel very privileged because we can have children in faith.

We come before You to receive the direction and the necessary power, so that the work is done. In Samaria, You used Philip; in Jerusalem, Peter was used; among the Gentiles, Paul was allowed to do Your work. Lord! Thanks for calling us.

Today, there are eunuchs, magistrates, workers, housewives and others who will marvel at your works. If Philip had not been obedient, the eunuch would have returned to Ethiopia without understanding Your plan. Others need to marvel at what you do. Thank you!
