Now prepare yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer Me.

Job 40.7

The account about Satan’s attack on the family, health and assets of Job, a faithful servant of the Lord, is one of the Scriptures’ most intriguing stories, since the enemy received authorization from God himself to do this destructive work (Job 1.6-12). When Job defended himself from his friends’ accusations that punishment had come because of his sin, he refrained from sinning against the Lord. Many lessons can be learned from Job’s story, and one of them is that we must never accuse the Almighty God.

Many people ask why God allowed the devil to bring suffering over Job and his family. And Job also asked the same question, and later he concluded that his fear had led the devil to receive authorization to touch his life, family and assets. It is important that we always examine ourselves, searching for a sin, for example, or something as simple as a feeling that something bad will happen. The Bible says that a curse without cause shall not alight (Proverbs 26.2).

Job spoke for a long time, but God wanted to have a conversation with him. In order to talk with the Lord, he should prepare himself like a man. God wants to see us as responsible and mature adults, not like people who speak foolish words, act in an irresponsible manner and do not assume what they have said. We must always take our spiritual lives seriously, so that we are not caught in sin.

People who can be called “men” think before speaking, honor their decisions and are willing to clarify everything. These are victorious people and, in eternity, they will be next to the Lord forever (Revelations 3.21). Those whom the Lord calls “men” take heed to the Truth. Those who do not listen to the Truth fail to do that due to their bad deeds.

The best prayer is to have a conversation with God. Many people say so many things to the Lord but do not listen to anything he says. When you are praying, enter God’s presence and feel what you should say. You can rest assured that the Holy Spirit will lead you in prayer. If he convicts you of a sin, ask for forgiveness and, at the same time, make the decision not to sin anymore.

Never hide behind the trees, like Adam did, nor try to minimize your sin. Always answer the Lord with honesty, after all, he will never say anything to condemn you, but to forgive and transform you. Be always clear and straightforward to him, and pay attention to what he says and what you answer him.

The reason why the Holy Spirit puts in your heart desire to seek God is that he wants to change your life. Do not disappoint the Lord with a bad attitude! Whatever he speaks to your heart must be promptly obeyed. Moments of prayer are many times an opportunity for you to get rid of a sin or any other suffering.

In Christ, with love,
