Behold, God is my helper; The Lord is with those who uphold my life.

Psalm 54:4

What a trust the psalmist had in the Lord! All those who really believe in the Lord can have the same faith in that there’s no partiality with Him (Romans 2:11). We can deem as chosen ones all those who take in the message of the Gospel and, if they are taught their rights in Christ, we’ll end up having winners. The love of God shed in our hearts is the same one shed upon those who surrender their lives to Him. To those people the gates of Heaven will never be shut in that it was opened by Jesus.

The children of God need to read the Bible more and pay heed to what is being preached because, in those moments, The Most High speaks to His people and He hands out His gifts to them. Those who do not pay heed to what our Father is saying will never achieve an unbeatable faith. People who cannot grow in understanding keep groping the work of God on account of the fact that they cannot get the necessary power to win. With that, the devil keeps on disturbing them as he wishes and it turns out they cannot get rid of him in the end.

The psalmist unveils a quite interesting fact: many people were supporting his soul. All those who are mature in their journey with Christ should do that on behalf of those who are weak. Likewise in the natural life as a newly born baby needs special care, the same happens in the spiritual one. The newly converted might be a successful businessman, a judge, a physician or a renowned reputedly intelligent professor, but in the Kingdom of God, he needs to be addressed as a “baby in Christ” fort he does not have the sufficient spiritual maturity yet.

It would be good for the mature in faith to be supporters of those who are drifting away and not their accusers. No father would throw into the litter his baby-boy who has fallen and gotten dirty. Why are we used to doing that with the newly born of the Lord, those who commit sins? The Church should not despise their young sheep in that, one day, they will also be grown-ups and they’ll give joy to The Kingdom of God. If a party is thrown for a sinner who has repented let alone a Christian who assists another into getting back on Track (Luke 15:7)!

In prayer, we have a lot of power and spiritual empowerment. If we use those prerogatives in faith we will see many people being spared of falling down. By all means, an effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much (James 5:16). The other side of that statement is true as well: a Christian that condemns his brother might be tossing him into the hellish pit.

God wants to be with His people today the same way He was with the children of Israel then. He is the same and He will never change (Hebrews 13:8) and, for being the good Pastor, He will go to the mountains in search of the sheep which has gone astray (Matthew 18:12).

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares
