But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of the LORD God of Israel with all his heart; for he did not depart from the sins of Jeroboam, who had made Israel sin.

II Kings 10: 31

Jehu was lifted up as king of the people of Israel by a divine command and he did the will of God; then he made a mistake on a crucial matter. He could have been one of the best rulers of Israel just like David was crowned king and took over Saul´s reign. Jehu was chosen by The Lord Himself to take over the throne of Israel; yet, he repeated Jeroboam’s error by giving himself to idolatry as well. Jehu, even being aware of that, made the same mistake.

May nothing like that be heard about you because God will not deem you as innocent (Nehemiah 1: 3)! He lifts up people for them to follow His directions. If they fulfil The Word of God they will experience a series of victories. The Lord would never lift someone up neither to put them to shame nor fall in disgrace; on the contrary, when The Almighty grants someone a ministry His heart is filled up with wonderful plans for them.

Be careful to walk with all your heart in the Law of The Lord and, thus, God will honour what He has been saying concerning you. Jehu’s mistake was to let himself be carried away by the devil’s temptation. When he did that he betrayed the trust of The Almighty and then he got his condemnation in the end. The outcome for anybody who has given themselves to the enemy will not be any different at all considering that God will never cover up any error from any of His children.

Do not make the mistake of walking in The Law of The Lord half-heartedly; if you do so God will not be able to do for you what He declared about you at first. Those who walk half-heartedly equal to those who absolutely do not fear The Lord. We can only please Him if we do His will with all our heart. Those who are lukewarm in their faith cannot have any appreciation from The Heavens; on the contrary, God guarantees that He will throw them up out of His mouth (Revelation 3: 16).

You ought to never make the same mistakes other people make and you ought to never accept any evil desire that comes into your heart; rebuke it at once because if you accept it the enemy will have you caught up in his hands. Imitate only the attitudes of those who serve God. No work perpetrated by sinners, even those deemed good, can ever be beneficial to you. The reward of The Lord will be in line with your being obedient to His Word.

All transgression to The Word of God will bring along a condemnation. Some may make mistakes on account of their ignorance of what The Scripture states, but those who know that The Bible condemns certain attitudes, yet they take them, are being bluntly rebellious and for that reason they will find no excuse to justify their acts.

We have to set the example as obedient and loyal servants. Our works must be suitable for others to mirror in us and, thus, get to please God. I hope you may not be like Jehu who after having perpetrated so many good deeds ended up setting a bad example for his people.

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares
