04/03/2012 - HE WHO TRUSTS HAS HELP AND SHIELD

O Israel, trust in the LORD; He is their help and their shield. O house of Aaron, trust in the LORD; He is their help and their shield. You who fear the LORD, trust in the LORD; He is their help and their shield.

Psalm 115:9-11

Israel was told to trust the Lord, but when God fulfilled his Word by sending His Son to solve all the problems of His people, the Jewish authorities committed the greatest sin: they rejected Jesus, who was and will forever be their Help and Shield. We must be careful so that our hearts do not get overwhelmed with the affairs of this life and end up despising the Word that our Father sends.

The house of Aaron – the priestly family – should trust in the Lord, but did not do it because the priests despised the Son of the Most High. This shows us that there is no use being a religious person, devoting your whole life and youth to the service to the Lord if you do not believe in the Almighty or in what His Word declares. The sons of Aaron were required to fulfill what was written, which, in its smallest details, was fulfilled by God. If they had acted correctly, they would have had the Lord as their Shield.

All those who say they fear the Name of God are exhorted to trust Him. Still, the crowd in Jerusalem changed radically in thought. Before, they were all shouting \”Hosanna to the Son of David\” but a week later they were shouting: Crucify him! Crucify him! (Luke 23:21b). How many of them swore to respect the Word of God? Probably all of them! But as a matter of fact those who fear the Lord are those who respect what is written in the Bible. All those who do not trust in Him truly lose the help and shield that the Almighty could be for them.

Those who still do not have God as their help and shield must analyze whether they truly trust in Him. Many have become religious bigots, but in spite of the sacrifices that their vows have caused them to practice, they are not pleasing God – and the worst is that they will spend eternity away from the Savior. Only those who actually rely on the Most High, doing what His Word says, have the divine help and protection of Heaven. You should think about it!

What have you obtained from the Lord? Has He assisted you in your day to day life? How is your marriage? And your conscience? If you start to truly trust in the Father, you will have Him as your help and protection.
