You looked for much, but indeed it came to little; and when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why?” says the LORD of hosts. Because of My house that is in ruins, while every one of you runs to his own house. Haggai 1:9

The heart of man thinks of great harvests, but if he does not serve the Lord or partially respects His will, the result is unexpected. As servants of the Most High, we must seek His guidance. Now, being careless in our mission, it is incoherent to aspire for other things. The child of God does not entangle himself with the affairs of this life (2 Timothy 2:4).

The servants of Jesus or His friends, a term He Himself used, should beware, for He said that by being in Him they would bear much fruit: I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. (John 15:5). If the production of our faith wanes, something has separated us from our loving Father!

We cannot aim only at material success. It will come if we give priority to the Kingdom, but if we give priority to ours and our family’s well-being, we will err: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. (Matthew 6:33). Being obedient to the heavenly vision is a principle for a victorious faith, which will have repercussions in everything we touch (Acts 26:19).

The key verse contains a tremendous exhortation: and that little one, when you brought it home, I blew it away. It is clear: the Lord is not pleased with how little your faith can produce. But He has no problem in using you mightily. As He spoke to Abraham, He also addresses us in this way: I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing (Genesis 12:2). Don’t disappoint the Lord!

Never devote too little to God’s work. Have a handful of testimonies of what your faith has worked for people and for the Kingdom of Heaven. You don’t want to see the Lord´s mouth blowing out little, do you? So, take this as a lesson and produce plenty, giving no truce to laziness, which will sometimes arise in your body. The devil doesn’t want to see you rewarded by the Father, because others will follow your example.

The Lord of hosts teaches: the poor harvest is due to the neglect towards His house, which, according to Him, is deserted. In fact, there is no reason for this. He has enough power use us abundantly. However, this does not mean that, from one moment to another, anyone can start their work and He will bless them. Those called by the Almighty need to be under the authority of a successful ministry!

Do not apply to the Master’s harvest because you are unemployed or for any other reason than a true call from Heaven. Those who are obedient to their calling should forget about their own house and think about the Lord’s (Matthew 10:37). In time, He will bless you in this too!

In Christ, with love,

Lord, our true Master! Being Your disciples, we will learn to fulfill Your purpose as You wish. Nothing will stop us from acting according to the Truth, for it will free us from ourselves and from temptations. Teach us to love You!

Day and night, anytime You want, we will be Your instruments. There is nothing better than to be guided by You, to give someone the Bread of Life, the food that strengthens the person who has felt Your touch and is willing to follow Your orders!

Help us to be in You, and Your Word in us. Then we will bear fruit, and our fruit will remain. We do not wish to look at much and reap little. We desire to go all the way in obedience to You. By doing so, we will achieve more than we anticipate. We are thankful, Father!
