So it came to pass in the process of time that Hannah conceived and bore a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, “Because I have asked for him from the LORD.”  1 Samuel 1.20

Patience is one of the virtues we need to receive from God. Without it, we jeopardize the blessings prepared for us. The Lord knows the details of everything. That is why He often waits until we learn how to do something, in order to grant us our rights. Now, men who do not seek Him will have to learn a little more to be ready. Do good!

We like to read the Bible as if it were a history book, but we should not act this way. The Word contains very important details, and if we don’t pay attention to even the smallest details, we will miss fundamental teachings. Fools go to the university, a place of great knowledge, and there they ignore the lessons of the masters. Consequently, later on, they will not get a good job in the job market.

Studying the verses about the victorious Hannah, who praised God with her husband for the promise of motherhood, we soon discern that a few days later, she was already pregnant, for the text states: Then they rose early in the morning and worshiped before the Lord, and returned and came to their house at Ramah. And Elkanah knew Hannah his wife, and the Lord remembered her (1 Samuel 1.19). However, the next verse says:  So it came to pass in the process of time…

Probably, she was not prepared to receive the grace, so she had to meditate more on the Word and pray, waiting for the right moment. After she conceived, she had to wait for the gestation to develop. Paul said that tribulation produces perseverance, and perseverance character, and character produces hope, and hope does not disappoint (Romans 5.3-5).

It took time for Hannah to conceive and have a child. This shows us that it is not as we think it has to be, but as the all-knowing and loving God desires. Therefore, never be irritated by the Lord’s “delay”, for He knows who we are and what will occur if we receive the blessing without being prepared. Be patient until you own your soul, and are not subject to the command of another (Luke 21.19).

The day came when the baby boy was born, when he cried for the first time. He came out of the comfort of his mother’s womb into this evil world, as has happened to each of us. No child is born smiling, and all must learn from God how to live here on this planet dominated by suffering, sin and hatred. We don’t have to learn from the world, for the Lord has already put in the Scriptures what is necessary for us to live well. Read the Bible!

Samuel, Hannah’s son, announced: His name is God! Without the work of the Most High in that woman, such a prophet would never have existed. She was wise when, meditating on the Lord, she felt she needed to give birth to a child and put this glorious message in him. May you receive your blessing and honor your heavenly Father with it. Everything you do should be for His glory (Colossians 3.17)!
