24/11/2015 - Holding fast to the Lord

But you who held fast to the Lord your God are alive today, every one of you. Deuteronomy 4.4

When you hold fast to the Lord you resist temptations. However, when Satan sees you in the right path, he will try to snatch you out of the Truth, which indeed sets you free (John 8:32). The devil will do all he can to reach his goal, he will also offer the things sinners love the most, such as beautiful and sexy people. You, who are godly, even under heavy attacks, will not indulge in what the evil one is offering, right?

The Moabites had no regard for the Word of God and, because of that, gave themselves over to filthy practices, which for the lost are acceptable, because that’s how they act, spreading around this behavior. Those who work for Hell love to promote what the Most High condemns, showing they take pleasure in sin. When their condemnation for such deeds come, however, many will recognize they have sinned; others, unfortunately, will continue to promote the wrong.

Moab and it’s morally doubtful practices perverted many among God’s people. In his madness, Balak, the king of the Moabites, did not shy away from asking the women in his kingdom to seduce the Israelites (Numbers 25.1-3,6; 31.16). What gain did the king have with his strategy and did the Israelites gain for allowing themselves to be seduced? Nothing, because they could not impede the progress of the Israelites and brought God’s wrath upon themselves. Those who give themselves over to error will one day see that it was worthless.

Hell unleashes great attacks aimed at God’s people; that’s why there are many who are full of problems and spiritually dead – separated from the Father. Their service is but a tradition, but they lack God’s essence in their midst. Consider that the Biblical prohibitions never lose their effect with time; and even today they lead to despair those who indulge in them, because they concede to the devil. It is time to examine yourself and repent.

The Creator made man and woman and blessed them. In marriage, the couple’s relationship is a healthy and blessed union as long as it is by natural means (Genesis 1.27-28). Flee from immorality, from filthy desires, and from all else that is sinful. There is a high price to be paid to those who practice harlotry. The Holy Scripture teaches us that each person has to know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor (1Thessaloinans 4.4). Therefore, do not allow yourself to be lured by the lies of the enemy, but be content in fulfilling God’s plan.

There are countless examples of people who were once champions of the Lord, but, when they indulged in sin, they began to wither away until they were spiritually dead. The rope used for spiritual suffocation is tied slowly around your neck; as if it were offering a last opportunity for the person to repent. It is unfortunate to see, though, many sad and tragic examples of people who continue marching towards the slaughterhouse.

If you have been tempted in every side, draw near to the Lord to be set free. Open up to Him in prayer, asking for His help, for, if you indulge in sin, it will not be long until that rope kills you spiritually. Today is the day to seek the Lord’s forgiveness and holiness, without which no one will see Him (Hebrews 12.14).

In Christ, with love,

Dr. Soares

Holy God! Deliver Your people from the Moabite culture that dominates the world and has been leading some of the saved to worship Baal of Peor, as much as to cause them to be hung before You. Little by little the rope is choking their life away.

Why did Balaam act wrongly? He was not firm in his faith and, because of that, he allowed Balak to cause a great loss among the Israelites. Deliver us from sold-out prophets who, with ulterior motives, have allowed and even promoted immorality amongst the believers.

May those who once knew the Truth draw near to You today, in true and steadfast repentance. May all Moabite practices be eradicated from among Your people, so that You may spare them. We pray also for the lost, so that they can be completely set free.
