11/06/2012 - How is your mouth?

Bread gained by deceit is sweet to a man, but afterward his mouth will be filled with gravel.

Proverbs 20: 17

The devil’s offerings always come along with a strong illusory power. At the beginning, everything is perfect but, with time, the nature of the one who is behind that so-called happiness is revealed. That is why those who do what is banned by The Word of God end up finding out that they have become accessible to the enemy, and for them to be delivered from him real repentance must take place. The bread gained by deceit tastes always mild; yet, it is awfully hard to be digested.

Those who commit adultery, for instance, as they get involved with an extra marital relationship tend to reckon that they have found the happiness they were looking for; yet, shame and the other harmful consequences that that type of sin brings along are endless. Someone with a frail personality let themselves be carried away by someone else’s charm, someone used by the enemy to defeat them. They cannot perceive that one of the causes of their taking that sinful attitude is the fact that they have not been sharing moments with their spouse for days, months or even consecutive years.

Now, he or she who is dishonest rejoices with a piece of clothing, a house or any other good he or she may conquer with a deceitful hand (Proverbs 10: 4); yet, that sin stays in his or her mind, accusing him or her of being such a vile and disqualified person. That is why you ought to not accept the bread gained by deceit, not even a small loaf of it. Otherwise, you will see that there was no bread, except poison which, if not dealt with appropriately and in time, might take you into despair and to great suffering.

You must value all that is good and you must not look to what does not come from God. Close yourself completely to everything that is not allowed by The Word of The Lord. Deceit will always be deceit, and those who makes use of it will find out, too late, that the devil has seduced them, and that the satisfaction they enjoyed was a fake as it took them right into the claws of the enemy who, day and night, tortures people with their regrets and other kinds of painful feelings and thoughts.

The punishment is already determined for those who perpetrate wrongdoing: their mouths will be filled up with gravel. Can you imagine how you would be able to speak that way? Now, to do so you would have to have your mouth wide open as you tried to speak through your throat and, at the same time, being careful for the pebbles not to slip down your throat, wouldn’t you?

Those who do evil, unless they repent and unless they get the forgiveness for their errors, will never be able to sensibly go for their rights. They might even be instructed into what they are to be doing to be healed or delivered from any oppression; yet, how will their command come out if their mouths are full? With those pebbles in their mouths, how will they be able to munch the bread God gave them to gain strength so they will receive their blessings?

The best thing in life is being what Jesus had planned you to be. God is not being evil in banning our eating the sin of delicacies; on the contrary, He is good and He teaches us to act holy. The Most High wants to see us victorious as we live our lives free of the oppression of the powers of darkness. Therefore, make friends with yourself and do not fall into transgression.

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares
