26/10/2018 - HOW JESUS WAS GUIDED

The following day Jesus wanted to go to Galilee, and He found Philip and said to him, “Follow Me.” John 1:43

Jesus was forming His ministerial team, which would learn with Him how to continue the work begun on Earth.  Under the Father’s guidance, Christ had already found some disciples, and Simon was the last one. The following day, led by the Most High, He went to Galilee where he was from.  When we work in God’s work, we must be careful to not lose the precious instructions of the heavenly Father.

The Master’s heart was touched by the desire to go to Galilee, the region that He knew very well, because He had spent most of His life there.  The main difficulty that people have when being led by the Lord is to not pay attention to the fact that to be attended by Him is something very simple.  We are not led in thought, but intimately. We have to remain alert to feel if we must go or not to a certain place and whether we should do something or not.  God speaks!

Arriving in Galilee, Jesus met up with Philip.  The encounters planned by the Lord are not to be confounded.  You feel it when God guides you, because of the peace and the joy that fill your being.  However, when an acquaintance, a friend, or relative decides to tell you what to do and this does not come from the Most High, your heart closes and often times you become rude with that person.

The Master spoke to Philip as soon as they met.  The order was that he should go with Him, just like He had spoken to the sons of Zebedee when they left everything and followed Him. Even the father who had a fishing company was left without his sons, when the Nazarene passed by them.  Those who are wise answer immediately the commands of the Savior, but those who are not interested in matters of the Kingdom, even though knowing that the Lord commanded, are not able to obey Him.

Once, when going from Judea to Galilee, Jesus needed to go by way of Samaria (John 4:4).  These directions are most important because when the Father so commands – showing desire to do something -, He has already prepared a task to be carried out, such as the case of the Samaritan woman whom Jesus asked for water. He converted her and with her, all the men of the village.  The obedient see God in action.

Another time, the sisters Martha and Mary sent Christ a message, asking Him to come and see somebody He loved, for this person was gravely ill. The Master felt that he should remain where He was for another two days (John 11:6).  Then, He decided to answer their request.  He told the disciples that He would be awakening Lazarus, but since they did not understand, He said that his friend had died.  Oh! If only we would learn to walk as He walked, we would never be ashamed.  Do you believe this?

To be under the direction of God is for believers in Him who serve Him.  Unfortunately the majority do not understand or know what this means, thus, they do not live or serve well.  Besides they only rarely receive answer to prayers. In Canaan of Galilee during a wedding feast, seeing that the family was having problems, Mary told Jesus that the wine had run out but He answered that it was not yet time for Him to act. (John 2:4).

In Christ, with Love,

God, our Guide! We would live well if we allowed ourselves to be guided by You.  This is not always the case, even with people considered to be spiritual. Teach us  to live close enough to You so we can always hear You.

The desire that hit the Master’s heart came from You.  Therefore He went on the way and when He met with Philip, He realized that there was one more chosen to be a part of His ministry.  That Your servants may learn to always follow Your directions so that Your work be always blessed.

That we may never refuse to obey Your orders, and go to wherever You take us.  You are the Lord and we are Your servants. That this may always be true in our way with the Gospel.  Amen!
