18/02/2017 - HOW TO BE A DISCIPLE OF JESUS

Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. John 8:31

Being a disciple of Jesus is one of the greatest privileges of life, because we become ministers of the King of kings and Lord of lords. There will come a day that we will be called to take part in important duties in the work of God, and just like it happened to the first 12 disciples, we will receive power to cast out demons and heal the sick. Only the Lord knows when we will be ready.

Despite the greatness of this position, it is easy to gain a place on the team prepared for the ministry. However, Jesus has the prerogative to choose. During His days here, a man said to the Master that he was willing to follow Him, but he was lead to give up when he heard from the Lord that the Son of Man didn’t even have a place to lean His head. To another, Christ said he should let the dead bury their own dead (Lk 9:57-60)

The fact is that God is not short of people for His ministry to a point of accepting anyone that shows up. The calling to the preparation is personal, made by the Highest to those that are saved. Jesus addressed Himself with the Jews that believed in Him because He was with them; if He was in Brazil, he would address the Brazilians, in Africa, the Africans, and so on. The conditions are the same for all people.

To be in the group of those who are ready to represent the King of kings is to remain in the Word. In fact, those who do not persevere until the end will not be saved (Mt 24:13). Those who do not believe in the Lord, even if they try, will not be able to remain in the road of life. Unfortunately, there are a lot of religious people, with their lives consecrated in doing good, but they will not be saved.

Those who do not keep themselves in the Word, even if they are leaders of a church, they can even be considered by the congregation, but what really matters is the confirmation of Heaven. The sad thing is when such person, besides insisting in deceiving others, leads other people to act the same way; then not only do they lose themselves forever, but they also cause those who were fooled by them to get lost. However, The Lord knows how to separate for Himself the godly and faithful (Psalm 4:3)

The individual proves that he is a disciple of the Master when he knows the Truth and, he delivers himself from adversity without anyone praying for him. According to Jesus, those who know the Truth are set free. (John 8:32). With that, we can distinguish those who are of God and those who are in error. Those who are saved will not be taken by any of the enemy´s proposal.. The Truth shows who belongs to it.

There is only one way to be truly free: Knowing the Truth. When this happens, you will not be blown over by any wind of doctrine. Those who learn from the Word will never be fooled by the enemy.

In Christ, with love,

Lord! It’s good to know that You call those you desire and that You prepare them to give permanent fruit. That way, no church will be fooled by false disciples. Those who love and serve You will never be defeated.

May we remain in Your Word, thus, we prove that we love You! By acting this way, we please You and we will be loved by You and by Jesus. Teach us to never disappoint You.

We want to be Your disciples, doing Your will. Thank You for allowing us to  know the Truth and be delivered by it. The only attitude we do not accept is to despise Your precepts, because they are our lives.
