I called on the LORD in distress; The LORD answered me and set me in a broad place.

Psalm 118: 5

When a body, a mind or a spirit is greatly affected there’s only one way to deliver it from that trouble: to invoke The Lord. Those who, for instance, go on a trip to get rid from distress can even feel better for a short period of time, and yet, later on, it turns out that all that oppression comes back. Those who give themselves to religious practices will also see that they haven’t been totally relieved; but only those people who invoke The Most High with all their hearts manage to really be delivered from such evil thing.

Distress is a sort of oppression from hell. If someone doesn’t manage to truly be delivered from such evil action it can indeed cause them harm – One’s mind can’t stand being under any devilish attack for quite long. One’s body feels its damage and then soon it’ll go through awful and extremely unpleasant reactions which might culminate even in death. A distressed spirit who isn’t familiar with The Lord might even drive this person into committing maddening attitudes against other people and herself.

There’s no better way out to such torment than reading a psalm, a chapter of The Gospel and opening up their heart to God. So, the person who jumped to the conclusion that it was not worth living and was in fact possessed by evil desires now, on second thought, is well aware that faith can indeed be of great assistance to them. Yet, faith is not enough. One needs to open up their heart to The Most High by crying out for His mercy and by invoking Him with all their strength.

Nothing evil that might happen to us comes out of nothing. The empire of darkness having looked into our personality in detail and learnt what our weaknesses are sends its troops to tempt us. If we don’t look for the divine assistance we’ll end up alone in the battle and, when that happens, the enemy will then get inside our lives and defeat us. Under any circumstance we better open up our hearts and confess our sins and follow the direction given by God in His Word.

The psalmist declares that, in distress, he decided to invoke The Most High. The same must be true for those who truly want to get rid of any similar problem they might be facing. Yet, God is to be invoked according to His very essence unveiled to us through His Word. It’s not enough to say: “Father, help me! Deliver me from this problem!” We have to be familiar with His Words regarding that issue and then we can invoke His Name with assurance that we’ll be answered.

Once the psalmist cried out to The Lord he was placed in a safe place – his hiding place. God will make all those who are in trouble to rest as long as they follow His directions through The Scriptures. Those who don’t say their prayers according to the lessons they’re taught won’t have the assistance from The Lord though they might be having the best intention ever. In fact, it’s The Word of God which causes our Father to act on our behalf.

The Lord hears those who invoke Him as long as they’re based on His ministrations to them. If you are understanding The Word of God then He will surely act on your behalf. So, why not invoke Him right now? You’ll be delivered from all hellish action provided you do so with all your heart. The Most High feels delight to answer those who invoke Him in spirit and in truth.
