The dead do not praise the LORD, nor any who go down into silence.

Psalm 115: 17

Those who are saved have a duty to praise The Lord considering that they know what happened to them in their past. Their entrance into The Kingdom of Jesus was not just a matter of changing a religion, but an awesome work performed by The Almighty in their lives. Without salvation all men are equal. Many are used to wrongdoings but they don´t get caught and they pose as decent people. Yet, those who have experienced salvation saw the power of God rescuing them from doom and, for that reason; their old habits are gone for good. Now is the time for them to praise Him since being delivered from sin is a fantastic experience. Nobody who still lives their life in sin can enjoy peace and a sense of safety.

Those who have not been saved yet are spiritually dead. Many of them are our friends, colleagues or professionals whose work we use such as physicians, attorneys, dentists and other professionals who give us assistance and serve us. Due to the fact that they do not have a spiritual life they can neither praise God nor can they recognize His existence and sovereignty. Regarding the dead the remedy is not the same used for the dying; but if you turn to The Lord to let Him Know what is going on with you now He will show you the best way out for your problem.

Those who are lost – yet they can manage to speak a bit about God now and they recognize His works in the past and what He is capable of doing – are beginning to resuscitate. For them the remedy is quite distinct, yet in both cases we need to ask The Lord to guide us in all things. Since we know that He will not do anything in disagreement with His Word we need to put into practice those things we learn in The Scriptures and, under divine inspiration, other biblical passages will come up. The Most High declares that, provided we are wise, we will make His heart glad (Proverbs 27: 11).

We need to carefully look at that relative of ours, that friend or acquaintance who is at church with us, yet they do not pray the way they used to in the past, they are not keen on evangelizing any longer or on helping the work of God. It is likely that that person is either dying or already spiritually dead. The first case being true The Lord can heal them and get them back into our lives; yet, if they are already dead He can blow into their nostrils His breath of life again. Jesus said that all those who believed in Him, though they were dead would certainly live (John 11: 25). If that is your case, be risen right now in The Name of Jesus.

On occasion, we may find people in situations in which their whole family is spiritually dead. Say, one of its members set a business and began making some more money, and then he or she ended up contaminating all the rest. Soon afterwards the other members were not joyfully attending church any longer and they would not pray with determination either. Jesus warned us that the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things entering in choke the Word would make IT unfruitful (Mark 4: 19). Look out! Do not fall into that devilish trap because those things certainly drive the saints into sinning.

You may not be dead yet, but you may be plunging deep down into silence. By the way, when was the last time you prayed with faith?

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares
