Serve the LORD with gladness; come before His presence with singing. Psalm 100.2

One of the things that the first love leads us to do – and we try to accomplish with gladness – is to serve God in the right way. The verse that we are going to study in this lesson tells us exactly about this important factor that must permeate our prayer. Otherwise, we will never be heard or answered. God knows everything we need, but He will only help us if we enter the Way that leads us to Him. The Word is the Way!

Never think that the Lord will accept your service to Him the way you think it should be. Everything must be done as the Word instructs us. When we pray without observing the rules described in the Bible, our cry does not go through the ceiling. Therefore, follow the divine directions and you will be successful in everything. The heavenly Father loves us by fulfilling His promises, but we should also love Him by having His commandments and keeping them (John 14.12)

Many people strive to please God by working hard in the work of God. However, what really pleases Him is obedience to His commands. It is not possible for someone to fail to answer to the Lord, thinking that it makes little or no difference to Him. Now, we are being prepared to live at His side eternally, and not to follow religious rules invented by men. Remember: Everything that is not of faith is sin (Romans 14.23).

You serve the Most High by praying to receive healing. A statement like that inspires many people! But if some don’t know what Jesus did for them by bearing their diseases (Matthew 8.17), they may have the best of intentions, but the motive of their prayer will be carnal. We can enjoy health, peace and the other blessings, because Christ has already provided them in His death when He suffered in our place (Isaiah 53.4,5). We have this right!

Never pray angry at someone or something, nor out of personal interest. The Lord wants you to have joy before Him. God is not an executioner who fulfills Himself by whipping you until you can’t take it anymore. The Father is love, and His Word teaches us to be at His disposal with a heart full of joy. Why would the Most High change, when it was in Jesus that He showed Himself to be Savior? Learn to love Him as Christ taught.

To complete the act of serving the Lord, as the end of the base verse says, come before Him with singing, preparing your heart to pray the prayer of faith. Sing songs that inspire you and speak from the Scriptures. Thank God for what He has done on your behalf. Those who prepare themselves to pray and give the Most High His due glory will be successful in their claims. Always be thankful!

Remember: serving God is a privilege that He gives us, not a burden to be carried. The one who knows how to cry out is like the person who understands his profession and does it with mastery, thus, he will never lack any work. No one has anything to do with your frustrations or your failure; now, you will be welcomed everywhere when you put yourself in complete obedience to the Lord with gladness and present yourself to Him with singing. Do it!

In Christ, with love,

Lord of joy and songs of faith! It is good to serve You, to walk in Your presence, and to learn from Jesus to love You and do Your work. Look at those who seek You, but cannot find You. May they learn to do Your will with determination!

We want to serve You with our hearts overflowing with contentment, without fear or impure interests. We need to be forgiven for our sins, so we ask You for mercy for all those who pray to You. Help them to love You from the heart!

Now, in the Name of Jesus, I command the removal of the evil forces at work in these people who pray with me! I rebuke the evil spirits that do not let them have faith and make confusion in their minds. Every evil must come out in the Name of the Lord Jesus!
