But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct
I Peter 1:15
It is so good that the Lord reveals Himself to us just as He is, as a holy God! But because He is holy those who live in sin cannot walk by His side no matter how hard they try. As a matter of fact, whenever someone makes a transgression and allows himself to be carried away by sin he or she ends up being disconnected from God. To draw near Him they must stop their wrong ways and confess their transgressions. But beware: this should be done without much delay because one day there will be no acceptance of their prayers.
The divine order is for us to be holy. God himself – who knows who we are – called us for His work. It is also true that He worked in us the re-creation of our spirit, which is why we are in the position of saying \”no\” to temptations. However, if we start trifling with what the devil offers us, we will, sooner or later, find out that there is no forgiveness for our misconduct. With the Lord\’s guidance, we had better make a covenant with Him and strive not to trespass again.
We must be separate from evil. He who joins the holy God becomes holy; on the other hand, he who joins sin becomes a sinner. The individual who is morally weak and is constantly swayed by innuendos from the devil must urgently seek the face of the Lord and confess his problem. At the same time he must ask God to endow him with the means to move away from sin. Those who behave well in one day but in the other resume doing what the Word of God condemns will realize that they will no longer be accepted by the Lord if they remain in this situation.
The right thing to do is to examine your ways. What goes on in your heart is of paramount importance because if it takes pleasure in sin, you will not feel the need to ask for mercy; after all you are already away from the Path. So, while you still can, cut your connections with evil once and for all. Do not give Satan a place in your life because he was defeated by Christ, otherwise there will be no forgiveness for you. Do not let the enemy overwhelm you. Once you call a halt to it, the devil will no longer be able to approach you with his dirty suggestions and temptations.
He who does not stand firm in what the Scriptures say nor takes his stand in Jesus will not manage to get rid of the devilish attacks. If you want to please God, be strong and do not give the devil a foothold (Ephesians 4:27). In this way people will understand that once they have the same kind of faith you have, they also will be able to live at the highest level!
