Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, Streaming to the goodness of the LORD— For wheat and new wine and oil, For the young of the flock and the herd; Their souls shall be like a well-watered garden,And they shall sorrow no more at all. Jeremiah 31.12

Wonderful!  Nothing can stop us from going to the Savior!  Even if Hell closes ranks to stop us we will arrive at the place God has appointed us to.  No matter how hard a journey, He will take us to the chosen port.  We will not be misguided or confused, since the light of the eternal God will shine for us and show us where we are to step.  Following the Lord we’ll never stumble or fall short of Zion.

Our journey is one of joy, complete freedom and total submission to God.  As we are led, we will sing in the height of Zion, the Church of Jesus.  Actually we must reach the stature of Christ (Ephesians 4:13 ) and we must not give up reaching it.  In the power of our faith in Jesus, nothing will separate us from His love (Romans 8:35).  We will successfully complete our mission.

We have a race course purposed by the Almighty to enjoy the blessings He has for us.  So, we can’t lose time.  When we do find this treasure in the field, we should hide it, sell all of our belongings and take possession of this treasured property which by the way is graciously free (Matthew 13:44).  To sell all, in this context, means to ignore and disdain all teachings adverse to the Word and to lay hold of what is given us in the Holy Book.

Among these gifts we have the wheat, the wine and the oil.  The wheat is food for the body, which being the temple of the Lord must be properly nourished to be fit to house the Master.  The wine is for the soul, which will make joy to live in His divine presence so we can serve God.  The oil refers to the anointment from Heaven that will enable us to do the Father’s pleasure and so we can Glorify Him.

The lambs and calves represent the sacrifice we must bear to praise God.  These two figures are symbolic because in the Old Testament it was common practice to sacrifice animals to God.  With the advent of the Lamb of God, who takes away the Sin of the world, the sacrifices became spiritual, produced by our lips which cause the Lord to rejoice. All this is available to us and it is recommended we practice it for our good.

Finally the promise says our soul will be like a watered garden.  This is how our lives should be, for when a garden is watered it is cared for and beautiful to contemplate.  This is how our God desires us to be at all times.  Check to see if your life is well cared for or like an abandoned field where the weeds abound and nothing can be found to feed the hunger of the lost.

The Almighty declares we will never again walk in sadness.  What a joyful picture if all Christians lived like this!  We are promised to be a well- kept garden.  Examine yourself so as not to shame the Lord.

In Christ, with love,

God, our deliverer and source!  Your word affirms that the redeemed shall come.  This shows that nothing can prevent anyone from leaving the kingdom of darkness and entering the Kingdom of Light to sing at the height of Your Church!

We rush to Your gifts: the wheat for material needs, the wine for the joy of the soul, and the oil for us to receive Your anointment so that we fulfill Your work.   The lambs and the calves help us in our sacrifices of praise to You.

Finally our soul will be like a well-watered garden, closed and with a sealed fountain where the worldly filth will not have access.  Thus, we will never walk in sadness but instead we will be receptive and accessible to Your wonderful Holy Spirit. Thank you, Lord!
