“You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in Your word.” (Psalm 119:114)

Oftentimes, we begin praying to get a problem solved and then we present all our desires before the Lord, which is the right thing to do. Nevertheless, we make a huge mistake when we forget to speak about what we believe He means to us. Well, learning and talking about what the Lord is for us means a lot to Him. When the Lord says what He is for us, He shows Himself as in a picture and He puts Himself at our disposal in order to do something for us.

Have you already told the Lord what you’ve learnt about what He means to you? Don’t miss any opportunity to do that from now on. Once you make such declaration, talk to God about it. You’ll learn a lot this way because you’ll be showing our Father that you accept Him and so you’ll get more lessons from Him. The good news is that you’ll see that He hasn’t deceived you; He honors His Word.

God’s your refuge at times of persecution when it seems the enemy won’t go away from you; so, get close to our Father to receive protection. You’ll find the shelter you need till the storm is gone when you pray with faith believing that the Lord is exactly what He says. This is of paramount importance because the enemy isn’t kidding when he goes against your life.

If you make the Lord your shield no evil dart will ever hit you. Pay attention: When you say He’s your shield God’s offering Himself to keep you; so, don’t miss that opportunity. Say out loud that the Lord’s your shield whenever the devil comes to tempt you and you’ll be free from any evil situations that could cause you great suffering in case you are hit. So, don’t give in whatever the circumstance; stand firm in the Word of God.

It’s not right to believe in what you suppose God is for you, but rather in what He tells us He is. Don’t expect to get anything from God according to your human reasoning or understanding; yet, do believe in those lessons you are taught through the Word of the Lord. Many people who are apparently servants of God have let themselves be carried away by their own thoughts or expectations. When we believe in what God states we know for sure that His plans have already been carried out. That principle must be put into practice to become real in our lives.

Do not put your hope in anyone whosoever: either a pastor, or a brother, or a father, or a mother or anybody else; nobody can replace the Word of God. You must count only on the Word of the Lord and reject help wherever it might come from. Now, I want to point out that hoping in God isn’t being passive (that is, you say you hope something will happen and yet you do nothing to achieve that). So, be active and determine your blessing! Make God your Refuge and Shield and enjoy a successful life!

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares
