For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.

II Corinthians 5:10

You may think you are the master of your decisions, but have in mind that you will be held accountable for what you do or fail to do. As much as you feel free to do your own will – by saying that you do whatever you want with your life – one day you will be summoned to account for your acts and omissions. Be, therefore, sober in all things.

The Word says we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ. The Lord is our judge, who will not be corrupted in any way. Today, He is our Lawyer but on that day, He will be the relentless Judge, who will never be fooled by anyone. When He puts His eyes, which are like a flame of fire (Revelation 19:12), in whom is being judged, that person will confess the whole truth.

The writer of Ecclesiastes recommended the young man to be prudent in the days of his youth (Ecclesiastes 11:9). God does not forbid you to rejoice or to walk in the ways of your heart and in the sight of your eyes, but be aware that on the Day of Judgment you shall give account of your choices.

Answer quickly: if, at this very moment, your life ceased and you were taken to the Judgment Seat of Christ, what would happen? You shudder at the thought of the things you did or failed to do, right? They will be brought to mind. So this is the time, while you are still on the way, to agree with your adversary so that he does not deliver you to the Judge (Matthew 5:25). Afterwards, there will be only condemnation.

The dead, great and small, will be standing before the court. The 66 books will be opened, as well as the Book of Life, and then all will be judged (Revelation 20:12). The only way to escape the judgment is to do that which Jesus taught: start heeding His words and believe in the Father who sent Him (John 5:24). Your attitude regarding what the Word says may or may not convict you in the Judgment Seat of Christ.

He who obeys the Lord will not be ashamed on the Day of Judgment. However, he who does not do His will nor bow to what He says will face the same Word of God, which will judge him. The Word is the Lord Jesus Himself, who is seated on the Supreme Court to judge us (Matthew 25:31-46). Do not let the enemy deceive you. This is the right moment to escape condemnation!

In Christ with Love,

R. R. Soares
