For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; my vitality was turned into the drought of summer.  (Selah)  (Psalm 32:4)

Even though King David was a man after God\’s own heart (I Samuel 13:14), he sinned and his transgression brought him much suffering. No matter whom a person is but if he departs from the Way, he will feel the heavy hand of God. It is not because we belong to the Lord that we have a license to sin; on the contrary, we received the biblical admonishment that we must be holy as He is holy (Leviticus 11:44).

The hero of Israel sinned and therefore he suffered the consequences that are reserved to anyone who does not keep God’s commandments. It hurts our Father’s heart; so strive not to go through the same situation.

The weight of God\’s hand was steady on David. It was useless to pray, try to rejoice in the pleasures of the world or to forget the wrong that was done. If He did not confess his error to the Almighty and did not repent, he would remain under that yoke. However, he learned that we cannot play with the Lord and neither can we fool Him.

My brethren, if you are yielding to temptation, strive in prayer, asking the Lord to deliver you, and pay no more heed to the devil. Seek God\’s forgiveness to get rid of the evil action while you wait for the Great Day, because there is still opportunity to be clean. If, however, you come to Judgment without God’s forgiveness, goodbye (Luke 12:58-59), because there will be no mercy for anyone – neither Christians nor the lost.

God\’s hand was heavy upon him day and night which means that the enemy was allowed to harass David\’s life without ceasing. The same will occur with whom does not make amends with the Lord and also with the person whom he wronged. If the enemy asks permission to oppress somebody\’s life, God will allow it for the person’s own good, because there are many people who will only shun all errors after they go through suffering. However, my brethren, it is up to you to prevent evil from entering your life. The greater danger lies in the fact that if you die before doing it, you will be doomed to eternal suffering. Be wise and get rid of what can lead you to perdition. There is still time to settle your score. In so doing, the Lord\’s hand will weigh no more upon your life.

He who covers his sins will not prosper (Proverbs 28:13) since their cry is like a drought of summer; it does not convince anyone. There are so many inspired manifestations that "shake" the church, but those who have fallen do not even feel it. One thing is certain: he who sins and does not repent will never be in peace.

If you feel remorse for what you did to someone, do not leave it for later; make amends with that person. You have stolen something from your employer or from anyone else, make sure you return the exact amount or the very thing you stole. If you did any other transgression, pay the price for it and confess you have done wrong. Do not exchange your eternal happiness for shame!

In Christ with love,

R. R. Soares
