Those who fear God act like prophets, because they can discern situations and immediately take the direction they have been given. When she saw that her “clients” were Israelites, Rahab tried to hide them. That way, when the king’s envoys arrived, they wouldn’t find the Israelites there, and she wouldn’t be considered a traitor. As servants of God, we must be on the alert for divine revelations. Once we know about the Most High’s plan, we must put it into action straight away.
The brothel owner had to be firm in what she believed, without getting involved with the authorities, who would undoubtedly condemn her as stateless and perhaps only the death penalty would await her. He who loves the Lord acts by faith, without reasoning. The moment they knocked on the door of her house, the spies’ hearts must have accelerated. They cried out to God so that they wouldn’t be discovered. An uncomfortable situation!
While they soldiers were talking to Rahab, they spies had to be attentive to how she would answer, and the Lord gave her the peace of mind to speak firmly, without showing nervousness or guilt. Now, because she was serving the Lord, she had no guilt. Her act was one of faith and, for this reason, it was imputed to her as an act of righteousness equal to Abraham’s (James 2:25). The test was from God because if she did not protect the spies, she would have perished when Jericho was sieged.
Being prudent helps a person in any circumstance. By hiding the spies, Rahab showed that her fear of God had taught her to be wise. She felt that it was only a matter of days before Israel would fulfill God’s Word by taking over the whole land of Canaan, as the Lord had promised. There is no flaw in God’s purpose. From the moment Rahab started hearing about the exploits of Jacob’s sons, she was concerned for herself and her family, and the Most High saw it!
Love for God is demonstrated in the heart, so never let fear or any filth contaminate it, because they are incompatible with the Lord. When anything negative and immoral comes in, the Father’s love departs. Living within the boundaries shown in Scripture is the secret that must never be wasted. God looks inside us when we hear the Good News. If we love Him – have and keep the commandments (John 14:21) – He will prepare us to be happy.
Rahab heard about God’s deeds on behalf of the Israelites and wanted to be blessed by Him. So, her decision was registered in the Lord’s heart, who created a plan for her life to be preserved during Jericho’s destruction. It would happen anyway. Not even the king and his army could prevent it, even though they fought with all their might. See God’s great love for those who listen to His Word! Rahab and her family were saved!
Rahab’s response to the king’s envoys was wise. In war, we do not disclose what we do, because we will be killed. Isn’t that what Solomon taught us to do when he said: Do not be overly righteous nor be overly wise: why should you destroy yourself? (Ecclesiastes 7.16). Be wise and you will please the Almighty. Rahab was brilliant in her faith!

O God! You used a person with little strength to overcome one with great power. You gave her the ability to help Your people. Rahab was not only saved, but also became a great teacher. She lived in the worst condition of a human being, but she loved You!
She will always be in Your presence, living irreproachably, because she was faithful to Your Spirit, who made her emotional with the stories told about Your people. She was part of the Israelites, becoming the wife of a pious descendant of Jacob!
May my readers observe this example in order to be one with You, as You are with Jesus. Whoever has Your love poured into their heart, even in the worst of situations, will see the way out clearly. She did not fear the king's order and saved herself.
