A gracious woman retains honour, but ruthless men retain riches.

Proverbs 11: 1

The lady depicted in this verse typifies those who do God’s will. Each saved person is called as the Bride of the Lord because just like in a marriage – through which a man and a woman get together to make one sole body – your salvation got you united with God in such a manner that He states that you have become one sole spirit along with Him (I Corinthians 6: 17). What a privilege!

My brother, your attitude of accepting Jesus Christ as the Lord and Saviour your life apart from wonderful made you one sole spirit with God. A man marrying a woman symbolizes your union with the Almighty God (Isaiah 62: 5). Now you and the Most High have become one sole spiritual being. So, be more responsible in all senses. Because no sensible spouse betrays his or her half you must also keep your conduct absolutely pure. Therefore do not commit adultery with no spiritual being not even with an idol. Instead invoke and worship only the Name of the Lord.

You have got an honour now and you must always keep it so it will not be maculated; after all, you have received the good Name of the Lord and you are called by Him. Therefore, in the battles for the blessings you own you must never let the enemy defeat you. On the contrary, face him as he attacks you, never accept any one of his evil strategies and you must also watch out not to fall for his assaults.

The most interesting thing in this analogy is that if you keep your honour you will be enjoyable to God. It is pointless to say how good it is to have Him enjoying you, isn’t it? Now if your honour will be maculated He will certainly become sad and therefore you will not get His favour. Always be faithful to the Lord; do your best for Him not to be saddened with your attitudes.

The Bible states that, in this case, we must behave like those who are violent – whose peace is not disturbed by anybody who is sensible. This is what the Most High wants you to do to your honour: do not let anything maculate it. Be like a true warrior; the one who never runs away from the battlefield; the one who has got no fear of fighting to achieve victory. Remember that as the Bride of the Lord of the Universe you will not be accepted if you are impure.

Do not allow anything or anynobody to make you dirty. If this has already happened you must ask for the divine forgiveness because He is faithful and righteous to forgive you. From now on keep your honour the same way those who are violent take care of their riches. Do not let the devil get close to you to tempt you and, this way, take your crown away (Revelation 3: 11 b). Just rebuke temptations by using the Name of Jesus because the Lord granted you the power for you to keep yourself pure and enjoyable to Him.
