It is a privilege to be called and accepted as God’s servant, as Abraham said to the angels in the oaks of Mamre: And said, My Lord, if I have now found favor in Your sight, do not pass on by Your servant (Genesis 18.3). This statement was not just a polite request, but also showed the delight of being at the disposal of the Creator of Heaven and Earth. There is nothing better than serving God, for He takes great care of those who love Him (John 14:23).
The Lord announced a new title for those who live closest to Him: friends. In this regard, we read: You are My friends if you do whatever I command you (John 15.14). This way of treating us is due to our willingness to comply with God’s commands at all costs. Everything the Most High tells us to do becomes a holy privilege, because the tools and technique are passed on, as well as the skills to make the work perfect.
God calls us friends because of the revelations we receive from His Word. According to Him, no servant knows the actions of his master. Faced with this there is certainty: we must prepare ourselves to receive more missions. The fact that He gives us an assignment shows that we have done well in previous tests. God knows what He is doing. So don’t ever argue with Him or despise what He gives you to do. Love Him!
The title of friends shows that we must value the Lord’s words concerning us. When you are summoned to act with Him in any matter, be agile and zealous. When God assigns us a task, everything is already prepared for us to carry it out. All you have to do is ask Him for the day and time to do it. Remember: don’t be hasty, it will lead you to sin (Proverbs 20:25)!
Jesus said that He made known to us everything He heard from the Father, and this is very serious. Anyone who wants to please Christ must delve into the Bible to understand both the special revelations and those of general knowledge. Having foreknowledge, the Lord knows whether we can do the work or not. Of course, He will give us every assistance. The Master doesn’t need us, but in order to help us grow in faith, He leads us to do His deeds!
When Abraham felt that he could no longer haggle with the Lord to give up on destroying Sodom, he didn’t even ask for his nephew, because he understood that the matter had already been decided: the Most High knew what, when and how He would do it (Genesis 18.23-33). The patriarch didn’t intercede for Lot, because he understood God’s love for his nephew. So, as his “son by upbringing”, Lot would be protected. The Father’s love is greater than ours, so we don’t need to try and convince Him of anything, just believe!
On the day of the destruction, Abraham was aware of what would happen and woke up early, going before God. It’s good to have a place to talk to Him and shelter in prayer and faith. Abraham knew that that place of great sinners would be destroyed. Lot didn’t convert anyone, even though he preached, but if the patriarch had gone there, Sodom would have remained (Matthew 11:23).
In Christ, with love,

Lord of our lives! What a memorable day it was when You sent word to Your friend Abraham about the plan to destroy the land where Lot lived. Abraham asked if You would destroy the city if ten righteous people lived there, and since he didn't find them, he gave up fighting for it!
Guided by You, at just the right time, the patriarch was in the place where he had found You. Then he saw the smoke rising into the sky like that of a furnace, an example of what will happen to the Earth at the Final Judgment. On that Day, the elements will burn and melt into fire!
May we be prepared not to be subverted with the world! You will deliver us and those of ours who are in Christ. The fire will be much bigger, because it will encompass the whole world. Don't leave us alone nor forsake us!
