God knows how to choose the right person for special tasks, so He made Deborah, whose meaning in Hebrew is Bee, stand out as a prophetess and judge in a time when women had almost no opportunities. Certainly, she walked the path of faith until she came close to the Most High, to the point of becoming a judge over the chosen people. Likewise, today there are people walking the path of righteousness.
The Lord’s Bee was fearless, just like the one who receives a mission should be. To say that you are not good enough or not fit to fulfill such a work is like calling the Most High a liar. God has the power to make us successful. When He chooses us to accomplish something for His house, He knows why. As always, the devil will try to divert our attention to his lies, and giving place to him is forbidden to us (Ephesians 4:27).
The name Lapidoth, Bee´s husband, translates to torch. For a bee steadfast in her faith in the Lord, a torch by her side would make her blessed to carry out her calling. From what we read, she did not let herself be tempted to consider herself unfit for such an endeavor. Steadfastly, she gave the Israelites who sought her God’s direction according to His Word. He assists us in all our obedience to the Heavens!
Like everything that comes from the Lord, Deborah must have had a humble beginning, and perhaps felt the resistance of many who did not accept seeing a woman leading the nation. However, what should she do – since there were no men who could assume the place of leadership? God then found what He was looking for in a woman: faith and respect for the Scriptures. In those days, Jabin was calling the shots in Israel, but the Bee was resolute in her attitudes, thus, she was lifted up by the Lord before the eyes of the people.
It doesn’t matter how much you have suffered in life, how many injustices have been done to you or said about you. If you have the anointing of the Most High, He will use you. Those called by God must always present themselves approved to Him, as the apostle Paul declares: Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15). God honors those who honor Him (1 Samuel 2:30)!
The person who fulfills the mission given by the Lord, obeys the Bible, will be the target of His love. Whoever loves Him will also be loved in the various problems they face. Those separated for the ministry will be cared for in a special way, because they left everything to follow the Father’s instructions. For His part, He will do what is necessary to keep them away from the hellish plans. Respecting the Lord’s anointed brings countless blessings (2 Chronicles 20:20b).
It was a time of humiliation, but Deborah was not afraid and judged Israel. Day by day, as she received the Lord´s instructions, she knew that consecrating herself to Him was more important and giving the Scriptures its rightful place in her life would enable her for greater works. Finally, when she called Barak, she was not afraid and insisted that he carry out the command she had received. No one would take away from her heart the certainty that the Lord would do the work that Israel needed.

Lord of the Ministry! It´s good to know that You have a mission for each one who loves and serves You. Through this we will be victorious and You will be glorified. Help us to walk according to Your instructions and in Your light!
The fact that You called Deborah in the days when her husband was like an owner, who said yes or no, gives us the certainty that You have a lot more for us. We beseech You to help us never to draw back, but to walk resolutely in Your holy ordinance!
May Lapidoth's attitude be lived by every husband, whose wife has received from You the gift of doing good everywhere! He was not jealous, nor did he separate from her when she went to the front of the battle. Lord, teach us and guide us with Your good eyes.
