The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing; but the soul of the diligent shall be made rich.

Proverbs 13: 4

According to the verse above we are informed of the reason which makes many of our brothers victorious; yet, others defeated. That should not be a reality but, regrettably, many Christians are lacking everything. The worst thing is that they, by the way they live their lives, make a bad witness of The Gospel which causes many people not to willing to hear The Good News. Well, our witness should lead many to The Kingdom of God.

Laziness is one of the most well-successful strategic attacks of the devil among the people of God. Those who give in to it shall never prosper and, thus, they will not be able to show, through their lifestyle, that God is good. It is high time a people zealous of good work stood up; people who truly practice the truth and live away from sin and enjoy the abundant life brought by Jesus (John 10: 10 b).

The opportunities that come up for the diligent one are the same as for the lazy one. The trait that distinguishes the lazy from the winner is that he does not like reading the Bible, or consecrating his life or seeking The Living God. There is not a single lazy man who has no problems in any areas of his life; but “according to his point of view, he is always the only one who is right, and if he does not progress more in life, he blames it on the will of God.”

Christ taught us that those who seek will find (Luke 11: 9). Now, the opposite is also true: those who do not seek will not find anything. Even if the lazy spent all their lives asking for sanctification they would remain in sin considering that it is The Word which sanctifies them; yet, IT is not being sought by them. Their prayer may sound like that of the more consecrated servants of God, but their refusing going through The Scriptures, and spending time in prayer, keep them in the clutches of the devil.

Only the diligent ones will please The Lord considering that they strive and then they manage to prove that serving The Most High is worth it. For them there is no problem without a solution; they are always positive and fearless because they believe in The Almighty who promised never to leave or abandon His children (Hebrews 13: 5). Those who are diligent have The Divine Word at the tip of their tongue and, as they are tempted, they promptly answer with The Word of The Lord.

We will be judged for what we have done or what we have failed to do with the declarations of The Scriptures. If we let ourselves be carried away by laziness we will not strive to get to know our rights, and we will not know what to go for whenever we are attacked by any satanic arrow. Therefore, on The Great Day, we will be subjected to a terribly hard judgement.

Do the divine will! And, if necessary, spend some more time in reading the Bible and in prayer. Do not fail to do your bit for the miracle to take place. Remember that you attitude may either please God or the devil. Just do what pleases The Lord. The diligent one will always get the devil upset with his absolutely strong belief.

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares
