Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.

Ephesians 4:29

Jesus said that a man’s mouth speaks out of the abundance of the heart (Luke 6:45c), so in order for us not to utter anything that displeases God and suffer for it, we need to fill our inner man, recreated in righteousness and prepared for the good works with the tools given to us by our Father. Without doing it man is not free from what binds him to sin. Well, if he who sins is of the devil (I John 3:8a), we must be careful so as not to fall into any of the temptations that come upon us because the battle for holiness must be won.

If we want to please the Lord, we must comply with the following instruction: fill our hearts with what we learned in the Scriptures. This does not mean simply to know verses by heart, but rather to keep the teachings we receive when we meditate on the revelations of God\’s Book. The \”enlightenment\” that occurs every time we read the Bible or listen to the preaching of the Word is God’s voice speaking to our hearts. If we ask, the Lord will teach us everything we need to learn.

It is of the utmost importance to be careful in order not to speak what the devil wants, which could bring you closer to him and drive the Lord away from you. So watch very carefully because Satan can influence you to do things you should not do. After fasting for 40 days, Jesus was hungry and the devil subtly tried to convince him to turn stones into bread (Matthew 4:1-10). So pay attention to what leads you to take a certain direction, after all it may not be the divine direction. If you find yourself in a situation in which you are compelled to utter filthy words, the devil is certainly behind it.

If an individual has a crush on someone other than his/her spouse, such feeling does not come from God. Maybe that person is going through a difficult situation in his/her marriage; maybe he/she was betrayed and when a sinful desire comes up he/she thinks that Heaven is helping. The Lord would never do anything wrong. While an individual is still married, even if his/her spouse has been unfaithful, thinking of a new love is to commit adultery (Matthew 5:28). The explanation according to which God, being omniscient, knew beforehand that the marriage would end and caused someone new to cross his/her path is hellish nonsense. Unkind words, lies and feelings of infidelity will never derive from the Light.

Whatever is not good for edification should not be spoken! So always act as the Lord would act if He were in your place and live a life of prayer, honoring Him in all things. In so doing you will be delivered from snares because God is good with those who respect Him. If you have to go through some hardship, face it but never accept the way of escape provided by the enemy.

Speak only what God puts in your heart and you will impart grace to those who hear you. Also, do not say anything that could harm others. Use your mouth only to bless. In doing so, you will be responsible for the success of many.

In Christ with Love,
