Then the king was deeply moved, and went up to the chamber over the gate, and wept. And as he went, he said thus: “O my son Absalom—my son, my son Absalom—if only I had died in your place! O Absalom my son, my son!”   2 Samuel 18:3

What happened to David, when he learned that his son Absalom had died in sin, implies that this is God’s cry for anyone who dies without the salvation provided by Him through Christ’s sacrifice on Calvary. We need to make it clear to the people that there will be no other opportunity to save themselves. Today is the acceptable day of the Lord.

The price paid for the holy Lamb was very high, which shows us how much we are worth to the Creator. Because He is love, He knows the pains that the lost will suffer in eternity. Therefore, he sent Jesus to suffer the rigors of the Law in our place. Today it is enough to accept the Savior, and the individual is empowered to become a child of God. Enjoy!

Anyone who has strayed from the Way must reflect on David’s attitude in hearing about the fate of his son Absalom, knowing that there would be no forgiveness for his heir. The king awaited his conversion, as happened to the prodigal son, about whom, centuries later, Jesus told in a parable. Many people go too far for believing the devil’s lies.

In the story of the prodigal son, Jesus showed two kinds of waste. First, the one who spends his money on vain items, such as worldly parties. Second: the one who has everything but uses nothing. God’s love has given us what we need to be saved from eternal existence and free from evil in this life. However, some do not pay the slightest attention to it. A believer sees divine glory (John 11:40).

Peter said that God does not delay His promise, even though some may delay it, but He is long-suffering with us, for He wants all to come to repentance (2 Pet 3: 9). Mourning the death of his son and his eternal perdition reveals to us that David was a man after the Father’s heart, who does not want any of his children to be lost. What are you doing for your family members?

Never frustrate the Most High. Even though you risk losing yourself as you continue in sin, the Lord expects you to be wise enough to come to Him in prayer and accept Him as your Savior. Why leave it for later if there is no way to prevent death from taking you on time? Act now!

The invitation is open to those who believe. Convert and be happy forever, instead of continuing into the abyss. Wake up! The Creator does not want your destruction, but that you are redeemed now. Stop, think and take your place in the Kingdom of God.

In Christ, with love,

Our true Father and Friend! As I see David's cry for the loss of his son Absalom, I think about how you feel our failings. If we do not repent of them, You will not be able to help us on the last Day, when the wicked will march toward the lake of fire.

Prisoners in sin must wake up and see that they need to repent of their evil practices. Eternal torment awaits the unconverted, and there is no way to reverse this situation once condemned. Mercy!

Father, open the understanding of those who walk like the blind toward the abyss, that they may return to Thee in time to be saved. Give everyone the judgment they need to get right with You. We are grateful that you taught David and us how to be after your heart.
