“The LORD will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow.” (Deuteronomy 28:12)

After taking the children of Israel out of Egypt the Lord revealed to them the secret to becoming successful in the new land where they were going to settle: Canaan. In fact, the Most High numbered several blessings that His people were to receive if they listened attentively to His voice and followed His guidance. The children of Israel symbolized the Church of Christ that would be taken out of a real captivity: the empire of darkness. If the present-day Christians obey the biblical instructions, they will see that God has planned the best for their lives too. On the other hand those who do not follow the divine ordinances will not live a good life nor will they be successful in the new land: the Heavenly Canaan prepared for us.

The promise that we would lend to many people, but we would not borrow from anybody is real and it is at our disposal if we listen carefully to the voice of the Word of God. The understanding we get right into our heart as we hear the preaching of word or as we read the Bible is the voice of the Gospel which is a commandment to us. Once we understand what we have to do, if we do not do it we will be found wanting. “You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow” is a divine commandment!

In the following verse the Lord says that we must be head not tail. Which have you been, my brother? It is not by might nor by power that we will become those people our Father wants us to be, but by the Spirit of God, says the LORD of hosts (Zachariah 4:6). Have you surrendered to the Most High in order for that to happen in your life? He wants to see His children in the leadership, giving the last word, enjoying the best things of life, having solutions to all problems, being consulted by everybody at critical times and calamities. If we have the Spirit of the Lord dwelling in us we cannot be anything else but head.
When a servant of the Father takes a stand for Christ he or she becomes a blessing to the lost ones who will see that the Gospel is truly the only Way to deliverance from the bondage of sin and its consequences. However, if God’s children are accepting bribes given by the lost in order to favor them in matters related, for instance, to finding a job, getting a scholarship or any other trickery, they are giving a horrible testimony.

If you want to live well, to be free from problems and enjoy the best from the Lord, seek to learn about the divine plan and to live it to the fullest. Imitate those who were faithful to the Almighty in the past and begin having His power operating in your life! God shows no partiality (Deuteronomy 10:17); so all those who serve Him wholeheartedly will surely please Him. Yet, those who do not strive to get to know the rules established by Him for His children and, for this reason, do not abide by them, are like the rebels, those who have knowledge of the rules but do not put them into practice.

The right thing to do is to make God rejoice with our attitude towards life, after all, as a Father He rejoices when He sees His children behaving prudently. My brethren, do not forget that the joy of the Lord is our strength (Nehemiah 8:10 b). So, live the divine plan and do not frustrate the Almighty God!

In Christ, with love,
