Hearing of your love and faith which you have toward the Lord Jesus and toward all the saints  Philemon 1.5

Our love for God has to be known, not in the form of propaganda in any media, but through our testimony, without asking anyone to speak well of us. The greatest proof is when we do something for the needy, without expecting applause or praise. Jesus said: But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing (Matthew 6.3). Be vigilant!

The leader of the church observes the beginners on the walk of faith. It is common for the man of God to notice the way his followers behave, the way they welcome newcomers to the congregation, the way they pray and follow the teachings received. Certainly, the Lord will show who should be used in the ministry and in the other missions in the Master’s work. Do not ask anyone to tell the pastor about you, except the Most High, as intercession.

Whoever seeks recognition from the brethren, as politicians and others interested in holding an office do, acts as a reckless. Look at the words of Christ: Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance. For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward (Matthew 6.16). Let the Lord mold you, and when you are ready, He will promote you. Pray!

Paul heard about Philemon’s faith and good character from people’s comments. Likewise, don’t worry about the future, which belongs to God. He is preparing people who will be used by the heavenly Father. One of the attitudes that hinder us from progressing in our walk with Christ is to seek praise and honor. Just be faithful to the Lord!

Philemon’s love for Christ and his trust in Him was highlighted. That was enough, for Jesus never stops watching us, listening to what you speak in public or in private. You will demonstrate that you are a true servant when the Almighty begins to use you (Matthew 7.15-20). Go slowly, because you don’t know the position God has in store for you. Let Him prepare you well!

The attitude of faith presented by Philemon toward the Savior extended to the servants of the Lord. This made the apostle Paul feel fulfilled and with the feeling that it was worthwhile to go through the afflictions, in view of the many impacted by his preaching, which even saved Philemon. The apostle was giving thanks to God for having been an instrument able to rescue the one who would serve the Lord with a grateful heart and soul. This is the reward of the shepherd of the faithful sheep!

Let others hear about God’s love and your faith. Then you can be satisfied that you are on your way to doing the works that Jesus did. And with that, the crown of righteousness will be prepared, to be given to you on the last day (2 Timothy 4:8).
