In speaking of the Behemoth (Job 40.15), which some versions translate as hippopotamus, the Lord reveals the reason for His strength, security, and His power to act, showing that His work had a plan and nothing was created without His permission. In more capacity He made us so that we could be the masterpiece of His creation (Psalms 8). Seek to know God’s will for your life and be complete and perfect before Him in everything (Ephesians 5.17). Those who seek to fulfill the Lord’s plan discover how good and wise He is. Believe!
In Psalm 139, David exposes how he was generated, affirming that everything existing in him had the Most High close presence: I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well (Psalms 139.14). We can’t imagine how much we lose by not living in harmony with the Planner. He can do much more than we think or ask (Ephesians 3.20). Believe!
We need to understand that our Creator is Almighty. He does not lack the ability to create what we need. Besides, He is sentimental and loves us above all things. If it was up to the Lord, no one would be condemned to the lake of fire and brimstone, but unfortunately – many do not want to listen to Him (1 Timothy 2.4). Those who believe and follow His guidance will succeed in any endeavor. Become a winner!
The animal translated as hippopotamus has the ability to do what he wants, just as we do. However, the human being has greater ability than the animals, because he was made in the image and likeness of God. Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth’ (Genesis. 1.26). God is Three in One!
The Scriptures are clear in revealing that the Father speaks to people like Him and distinct from Him. Therefore, we understand that there is the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit: For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one (1 John 5.7). In the same way, we are one spirit, we have one soul – mind and emotions – and we live in one body in harmony, and each of them performs its mission in perfect union.
When human folly reached its peak, God decided to scatter mankind over the face of the earth. Then the Father spoke to others like Him, inviting them to come down and do the work: “Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech. So the Lord scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth; and they ceased building the city (Genesis 11.7,8). This Triune God has made us to be conquerors over all things!
He compared the hippopotamus to man, showing that we have also been interweaved. Therefore, we can say that our spirit was built to never lose a single battle. That’s how our physical body was made, to the point that we can be used by Him, like Samson, David, other biblical heroes, and today’s heroes!

God, the Planner! We are more than we think, for we have not come to You as we should to know of Your desires and dreams. Your plans culminated with You and the two other persons of the Holy Trinity, working to create us.
The hippopotamus was created, just like man, but for other purposes. Your hand fashioned us and prepared us to be Your children forever. So, we need to learn Your Word - to praise You properly!
Our spirit has been woven by You in such a way, that nothing can break us when giving You our life. By accepting Jesus as Savior, You will come to live in us and give us Your peace and strength. In this way, we will serve You in spirit and in truth. Thank You!
