For this reason I left you in Crete, that you should set in order the things that are lacking, and appoint elders in every city as I commanded you

Titus 1: 5

Paul had a purpose in leaving Titus in Crete and that shows that The Lord God has a reason for sending you to a particular place, by allowing you to work in this or that company, by turning you into a member of a specific family, by making friends with some people and by getting to know so many others. It’s very disappointing to see a Christian who will refuse to understand that and, instead of becoming an ambassador of The Most High, they do what they’re told by the enemy and bring shame and contempt to the work of God.

The Most High certainly deals with us the same way He did with our brothers in the past. He cares about our well-being and if we listen to His Words through The Scriptures we’ll be led into understanding that which many people don’t even notice. I want you to know that The Almighty has a stunning plan for your life; therefore, do not let yourself be deceived by the devil. Keep away from all temptations considering that they’re cast by the enemy for your destruction.

Titus was to put in order what was lacking. The issues concerning God must always be settled. There are many tiny things the newly-converted can’t fully understand; yet, The Lord won’t spare words to teach those who are really interested in learning. You have to get things settled – those pending issues yet to be sorted – as soon as you are give such revelations.

On top of that, Titus was to go from town to town in order to appoint elders. The fact of Paul giving this brother that command signals his concern about the newly-converted. The apostle knew that many would answer positively to faith but had nobody preached them The Word they’d end up getting lost. May this concern also dwell in your heart! The young sheep of our Father are longing for instruction, they need to be taken care of and directed towards green pastures and quiet waters (Psalm 23: 2).

Paul passed onto Titus the same instructions he’d been given previously. Hasn’t The Spirit of God been doing the same with  you today? Or is it that God doesn’t care about those who are born in His Kingdom? Perhaps we’re so busy and with loads of things to settle that we end up failing to fulfil what He told us to do? Jesus’ last command to us was to teach the converted to also keep all those commands from Him to us (Matthew 28: 20).

If we won’t do what we were told we’ll certainly have to be accountable for those lives which are getting lost. We need to have a second thought on what we’ve been doing for us not to be found guilty (Deuteronomy 5: 27). Our church doesn’t necessarily have to grow in number of members but it’s The Gospel ITSELF which has to be spread out. The Most High wants His children to grow in understanding, faith and love.

That matter was absolutely urgent that Paul decided to leave Titus behind; meanwhile, he carried on heading through the hours aiming at accomplishing his mission. What an example! How are those to whom you’ve been preaching The Word doing? It’s worth remembering that some Christians aren’t even evangelizing the lost. Can you think of any excuses smart enough coming from those people’s mouths to be accepted by The Lord on the Judgment Day? You’d better ask God for consciousness and wisdom to accomplish your mission commanded to you by Him.

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares
