“And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done also how he had executed all the prophets with the sword.” (I Kings 19:1)
Those were wonderful days because God operated powerfully. Ahab had not paid heed to the Word of Elijah, one of the inhabitants of Gilead, who assured that it would not rain, not even a drop of dew would fall onto the land of Israel (I Kings 17:1). Then that Prophet gathered the 450 prophets of Baal along with the 400 post-idol prophets and he issued a great challenge (I Kings 18:19): if Baal were God, then he would send fire but if it did not happen, Elijah himself would invoke the Lord. And so it happened that way, the Most High sent fire from above. Later on, the eight hundred and fifty servants of the devil were executed (I Kings 18:22–40).
King Ahab could not believe that that ordinary citizen, who had gone up to him three years before to reprimand him, would be able to do all that. However, the ruthless king did see the weight of God’s hand. When Ahab was back home he told the queen everything he had experienced, yet he was not the right person to break the Good News. Though he witnessed God in action, Ahab had been sold to the devil; therefore that message, coming out of his mouth, would not produce the expected effect on that woman. That is why we need to pay attention to who is talking about the Gospel because if the person in question is in sin, nothing good will come out of him.
The same way that king could not be the bearer of the Good News, the Church cannot hire people with high persuasive power and pay them a salary to do the work of God. Only the saved ones, those who are cleansed by the blood of Jesus and filled with the Holy Spirit will be able to be used to do the noblest work on Earth: to take the incorruptible Word to the oppressed hearts.
Jezebel got everything wrong and was determined to kill Prophet Elijah; she swore she would have his head cut off. If the Good Message had been given by someone filled with the Spirit of God, the reaction of that ruthless woman would have been quite
different. The Word of the Lord that come out of the mouth of the saved ones is compared to a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces (Jeremiah 23:29). However hardened a heart might be, no one will resist those who speak with love and power.
That is why God’s servants must not refrain their mouth. A child of the Most High, being unlimitedly used by the Lord, will be able to make even the hardest knee bow down before the Truth and save people. We are dealing with eternal lives, people beloved by our Father but because they are in sin they will be eternally doomed. We know that there will not be a second chance; so, as servants of the Almighty God, we cannot keep quiet.
All saved people who were called to preach have the anointing to minister the Good Word. If we keep quiet, we will take responsibility for all the lives that will get lost. May the children of God wake up to that reality and begin doing the work the same way Jesus did! You prove your love to the Lord when you do His will.
In Christ, with love,
R. R. Soares
