The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knows those who trust in Him.

Nahum 1:7

In biblical times prophecies were aimed at nations that did what was evil in the eyes of the Lord. But in the midst of those threats and warnings, the Lord used Nahum to remind us of something that refreshes our hearts and makes us believe in the victory of good. His Word declares that the LORD is good. That, by itself, is enough because although many have banded with the enemy, God knows those who are His and so He will not let us suffer His punishment.

Despite the plagues cast upon Egypt, the Israelites did not suffer any damage caused by the divine outrage although they were amid those people. If you are of the Lord, but have been afflicted by some kind of evil and you feel it is a punishment of Heaven, do not believe it. The Creator excels in good works and for this very reason He keeps those who are faithful to His Word (Revelation 3:10). So stand up and rebuke Satan, the cause of your predicament.

For those who are in distress the Lord is a fortress, the One who people can appeal to and whose safety they can enjoy. He who lives at the feet of the Lord should laugh at the threats of the enemy, for no evil shall befall him nor shall any plague come near his tent (Psalm 91:10). The Word does not say that the Lord built a fortress to shelter His loved ones, but rather that He is a very present help in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1) and wants you to seek shelter in Him.

Trouble can be defined as every attack of the enemy that comes to weaken our faith in the Lord. But why would you let that happen? Has He ever failed to fulfill His promises? So be firm and strong in what the Word tells you; use the faith He gave you against everything that attacks you. So dare to believe in the Most High right now. Be fearless and send all evil away.

If you trust in the Lord, do not worry for He knows you and all the things about you. If He allowed some temptation to gather around you, He knew you would have the authority to rebuke any evil work. Those who truly belong to the Almighty will never stumble when using their prerogatives as children of the Lord. Remember that God is good, He is a stronghold and He knows His children.

Everyone who is born again is a member of the Body of Christ. Soon after the conversion, the son of God is seated in heavenly places in Jesus (Ephesians 2:6). When you exert your rights you will be astounded at what you can accomplish by using the name of Jesus. Come on! Act now, and no power of Hell shall prevail against you (Matthew 16:18).
