Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.

I Corinthians 15: 33

God granted us His Word so we can get guidance for everything. Next, He uses the apostle Paul to instruct us not to be deceived with evil talking considering that it has a great power of corruption in itself. Behind that kind of conversations is the devil’s hand which, with its malignancy, is capable of taking to hell many of the saved ones. The good thing is to always avoid them because he who falls in their deceitful tricks are bound to get corrupted and, consequently they will go through a great deal of suffering for eternity considering that they will lose their salvation.

Evil talking ranges from mockery which shows that people like to fool around with those who, most of the time, have some reasoning problem or a handicap, to immorality when it comes to people gossiping very often, telling lies as regard to someone else’s behaviour. Well, the right procedure would be to invite the person the group is talking about to be present.

The best thing to do is to stay away from all that devilish talking. Everything that is not based on The Scriptures or that we would not talk about in the presence of Jesus is not worth talking at all! Those ideas spoken in a low voice or privately restricted for only few groups of people do not come from God. We must talk only about issues that directly or indirectly are recorded in The Word of The Lord.

In a group of people, talking about good, productive issues with immoral-free connotations will help a lot all its members. Going through those issues there is so good that nobody involved needs to worry about those who are around. Besides, those kinds of issues please The Lord indeed considering that, even though The Word is not being directly mentioned there, He is clearly being glorified, and that is what really matters. It would be so good if everything we did would turn into praises to our Father.

It is also very significant not to allow good habits to be crooked; otherwise, the poetry of life would fade out. When a community allows its habits to be profaned, it begins decaying dramatically all the way down close to moral chaos. It is not good to forget that we are the salt of the earth (Matthew 5:13).

Nobody should fool around with God. For being righteous and for teaching men to tell wrong from right, He will judge all those who give themselves to unrighteousness. Even those cultures in which The Gospel is still unknown, people there have a feel of what is right and wrong. That proves that Our Creator left in men’s heart the right amount of information necessary to tackle those issues. If someone who does not know The Most High yet happens to do something wrong, something inside them will ring the bell. That is what we call consciousness.

Finally, it is worth recalling that those who behave the right way will be approved and their fate will be The Heavens indeed. Now, the fate of those who are disapproved will be eternal torment.

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares
