And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment.

Philippians 1:9

Besides having led the Philippians to salvation, Paul was a zealous shepherd for his flock. It would be good if those who lead people to Christ would not abandon them under any circumstance. The devil, knowing the lack of harmony among many and upon realizing someone has led one of his preys to freedom in Christ, will sooner or later cause disagreement between them. The enemy knows that whenever there is any hard feelings that might shake a friendship, the flesh will speak louder, causing love to grow cold and, therefore, the new convert will not be helped or discipled as he should be.

That apostle showed the right path to his converts by teaching them what they should do for the love of God to abound still more and more. The good shepherd strives to teach all that is good for the development of the faith his flock profess. All the born-again are fishers of men, though they might not exercise any of the five specific ministry gifts (Ephesians 4:11). Therefore we must take care of those whom God allows us to generate to eternal life. After all, what is done to one of the little ones who believe in the Lord will have been done to Him (Matthew 25:40).

The knowledge of the Word is of utmost importance. The knowledge of the Scriptures makes us wise concerning the issues of everyday life. It prepares us for fighting against the forces of darkness that not only attack us but also try to steal those entrusted to us. If we cause these individuals to grow, it will bring us great joy because they will not deny the Lord and as result our happiness will be complete.

Every child of God must grow in understanding, which will be of great value to them and all mankind. Our lives will be better when an adulterer walks out of the wrong path or when a thief converts, for example. We cannot expect the lost to provide a solution to the problems of the world. As servants of the Almighty God – the One who can do all things in us and through us – we have the power to change people and thus promote change in society at large.

If there are people who revel in debauched festivities, who practice prostitution or make offerings to the demons, such things should be seen as our shame. However, if we strive and devote ourselves to do God\’s work as it should be done, from person to person, we will change our population. To this end, we have to grow in faith and knowledge of God so that the Holy Spirit enables us to do the work in a complete and perfect way.

The Bible warns us that those who received talents but did not use them will be thrown out of the divine presence forever in outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. But those who are faithful will be received in glory as the blessed of the Father and will be with the Lord Jesus eternally (Matthew 25:14-30). Strive to be happy forever. It\’s easy: just obey what the Word of God says.

In Christ with Love,
