He also made them to be pitied by all those who carried them away captive.

Psalm 106: 46

Those who fail to be in line with The Word of The Lord are actually taking dangerous paths. Yet, before they’re delivered into the enemy’s hands The Holy Spirit of God begins operating by convincing them to turn back to Him. Those who fall into transgression will soon feel forsaken, they’ll feel no peace inside and their heart will be filled up with sadness. Yet, if they confess their sins and leave them they’ll achieve the forgiveness they need and then they’ll be in communion with our Father again. On the other hand, if they won’t repent, sooner or later, they’ll be taken into captivity.

What used to happen to Israel in the past serves us as a lesson: when that people realised they were being oppressed by their enemies they would confess their sins and then they’d turn back to The Most High and The Lord would bless them. Yet, soon afterwards, instead of consecrating their lives to The Most High the Israelites would go back to sinning again and then they suffered the consequences of their error. Similarly, that’s a reality to many of those who despise the Grace period of God.

It’s not good to say, “Well, I’m happy with this little peace or those short periods of plenty”, because those who say so are actually despising their new spiritual rank. The salvation work perpetrated by The Lord Jesus on The Calvary totally delivers us from all temptations. Before the cross nobody could become a child of God but now we’re recreated in Christ (Ephesians 2: 10) and we have real freedom. That’s the reason why we can say “no” to the tempter whenever he gets near us.

As God allowed the Israelites to be taken into captivity He knew they’d have to face their adversaries’ assaults, but at the same time, He caused the latter to have mercy upon His people as well. That explains why so many Christians who have gone astray still manage to live a quite decent life now and, in some cases, some of them even get to the point of enjoying prosperity and some peace. Yet, the best thing to do is constantly being in the divine presence without having to turn to the enemy’s mercy.

Israel made the huge mistake of not understanding the time of visitation of God. You mustn’t allow that to happen to you. The Lord uses preachers who – filled up with anointing – give us the warning of how dangerous it is if we turn away from Him. In fact, The Most High speaks to us through the preaching of The Word, through inspiring songs, but even though many fail to listen to Him. Why does that happen? Why many don’t seek forgiveness and the grace of God and, thus, they end up failing to live their lives in total peace?

Those who learn how to walk along with our Father enjoy His goodness but those who resist the voice of The Spirit of The Lord and keep on being rebellious by drawing their attention to temptations will repent one day and they’ll find out it’s too late just like it happened to the profaned Esau who ended up shedding tears of regret once he’d sold his birthright for a lentil stew (Genesis 27: 38). Don’t let your blessing run through your fingers!

This is the time for you to make an alliance with The Lord and to seek His face considering that this is the way you can find Him (Isaiah 55: 6). Therefore, don’t cherish uncertainty in your heart nor accept or beg for any blessing here and there. Commit your way to The Lord and He’ll do whatever is necessary for you to have a blessed life (Psalm 37: 5).

My prayer is that you may not swap the divine grace for the atrocities of sin!

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares
