Deliver me from my enemies, O my God; defend me from those who rise up against me. Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, and save me from bloodthirsty men.

Psalm 59:1-2

There are people possessed by the demon of wickedness and all they do is devise iniquity. They are the enemy of goodness and when they see someone happy and prosperous they promptly devise a plan to attack him. David experienced what evil men can do, but he also learned what a good person can do against them: pray to God asking for His help.

Disrespect for the Word of God leads many people to act out of reason and in so doing they thwart the divine plan. Evil people are everywhere and their purpose will always clash with the purposes of those who do good. The victims of such people should pray for the Lord to defend them because then the enemies will be unable to carry out their evil intent; after all, with God\’s help, His children are saved.

God’s work will not stop because of the ones who give way to the devil and undermine the work of those who are devoted to fulfilling the divine will. Some of these enemies, disguised as children of God, have a smooth talk but deep inside them only hatred dwells. They spare no effort to attack those who were placed by God Himself in His mission. But sooner than they think, these imposters shall pay for it. Because their conscience is seared by errors they do not even bother to ponder on the harm they do to themselves when they attack those who are called by the Almighty. They took the path of error on which Balaam the prophet – who saw the talking donkey – found himself in trouble (Numbers 22). He who is used by the devil is making the worst option because Satan knows no mercy and whenever he has the chance he will inflict evil on his victims.

The Lord defends those who put their trust in Him. As a warrior ready for battle, the Almighty does not refuse to answer His children and neither does He oppose entering the battle in their favor. Woe to those who make evil their good! When they need divine help, they will cry out but will not be heard. What awaits them is the devil’s hatred, whom they served with dedication.

What David wrote is the formula for God to deliver you from those who surrendered themselves to the will of the wicked one: accept the divine offer and go into battle, knowing that God himself will wage your wars. The fact that the Lord asked David to write his secret is the guarantee that He will give you victory!

It doesn’t matter who your enemies are. Your true Friend, if called upon by you, will come into action and will deliver you from the hands of those who yield to error. Why not pray right now and tell everything to the One who is ready to give you the way of escape?
