30/07/2013 - NEVER INTERRUPT A SERIES OF MIRACLES

Now it happened, as he was telling the king how he had restored the dead to life, that there was the woman whose son he had restored to life, appealing to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said, “My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son whom Elisha restored to life.”

2Kings 8.5

The holy attitude of Elisha led the Shunammite woman to invite him to eat some food when he was passing by her house. As a result, one day, she decided that she should prepare a room for the prophet to rest whenever he was passing by. He who is of God must be available to be used by him. It would be so nice if every servant of the Most High exhaled the fragrance of Christ (2Corinthians 2.15)!

The Lord will reward anyone who does his work. We have the power to give and take, to bind and loose (Matthew 16.19). So, if someone gives us anything (it may be as simple as a glass of water, for example), we can bless him. And the “size” of the blessing does not depend on the value of the offering, but what we feel in our hearts.

When Elisha found out that the woman had no son, he did not hesitate to prophesize, for with God all things are possible (Mark 10.27). It is necessary, however, to have a believing heart and dare to speak on the Lord’s name. In addition, the blessing is released to last, and we are responsible for the gift of being used to deliver it, since we are stewards of God’s gifts.

In accordance with the words of the Lord’s prophet, the woman conceived and bore a son (2Kings 4.16-17), but, after some time, the boy died and his mother felt that Elisha had the power to bring her son back to life. So, without speaking to anyone, she went straight to the man of God and cast herself to his feet. In order to work miracles, a prophet had to be found faithful. This is required in stewards (1Corinthians 4.2). And, as each one has received a gift, we must minister it to one another (1Peter 4.10).

After her son was brought back to life, following Elisha’s orientations, the woman left her land for seven years. Nevertheless, when she returned, she found her house and land in the hands of others, so she went to the king to ask for her property back. But even before she got there, God had already prepared everything, because she had believed in what the prophet had said.

Gehazi, the prophet Elisha’s servant, was telling the king about the woman and the miracle of resurrection of her son, and when he saw her appealing to the king for her house and for her land, Gehazi said that she was the woman of whom he was speaking. So the king listened to her and appointed an official to her case. Once again, the Shunammite woman saw that believing in the prophet of the Lord made her prosper. God has given his Word to his servants, so if we believe and take hold of it, we can do the same miracles that Jesus did.

It was not by chance that the Almighty recorded this happening in the Holy Bible and used me through this message. I do not give up on the gift he has given me. What about you?

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares
