This word was sent to Joshua in order to encourage him and prevent him from being harmed or paralyzed by the enemy. What God reveals to someone, through the Scriptures, brings special missions into that person’s life, because that message sanctifies her, prepares her and gives her the power to carry out God’s will (Isaiah 55:10-13; John 15:1-3). Therefore, from the moment the revelation enlightens your spirit, you already know what to do and you must act on that instruction.
Joshua received the message of faith and the encouragement to never doubt and exercise his right as the leader lifted up by God over His people. Joshua was being prepared for that task, and there was no longer any reason to ask that Moses, who was taken to Glory, be given back. People trained by the Lord for ministry and placed in charge of the work must take up their position promptly and without fear (2 Timothy 4:5).
When the Word is revealed, no one needs to pray for God to confirm what He has already stated, because He always speaks clearly. Joshua was leading the Israelites to occupy Canaan, as he had been told. However, considering himself incapable and inexperienced, and feeling the weight of such responsibility, he wanted Moses to return to help him in the battles. The Almighty said to the new leader: No man shall be able to stand before you.
The Lord would be with Joshua, confirming His Word, and would overcome the enemies who tried to prevent that servant’s victory. Israel’s adversaries did not hinder the progress of God’s people towards the fulfillment of the divine promises. In the same way, Christians can be sure that the presence of the Most High will lead them to possess all that He has promised them. So, move forward by faith in the Lord and possess what is yours!
God guaranteed that just as He was with Moses, who brought out of Egypt (the largest nation in those days) – the Hebrews, who as slaves, lived without any rights – He would be with Joshua and his commanders. Therefore, this leader should not fear any threat, because no one would stand before him. The man of God doesn’t have to respect the appearance of the wicked, but rather advance and conquer.
Moses succeeded in freeing the sons of Jacob from Egypt, leading them to occupy the territory of the peoples who were already hostile to their presence. The Lord chose Joshua to continue this work of deliverance and guaranteed that He would use him just as He did Moses, when he was protected from any trouble during the fight against the Amorite kings – Seon, king who lived in Heshbon, and Og, king of Bashan – and defeated them in a humiliating way (Deuteronomy 29.7). God is faithful!
The message is the same for Christians today. We must overcome the forces of darkness in order to give God the glory He deserves. Just as the Most High was with Moses, He would be with Joshua. As He was with Jesus, so He will be with those who do His work with love and faithfulness (John 14:12). So, stand up and fulfill your calling!
In Christ, with love,

God, Shield and Strength! What You have done for those who love and serve You is yet to be understood. By declaring that no one would stand before us, You have done Your best to make us Your witnesses to the world. We thank You for loving us!
As well as saying that we would surely be the enemy’s defeat, You said that Your hand would be upon us every day. This motivates us to believe in Your Word and to live fearlessly, because You will protect us, even if the enemy comes with all his hatred!
Just as You were with Jesus, You will be with us. Even if we are unfaithful, You will remain faithful, because You will never abandon us. It is beautiful to have You as our Sustainer, the Restorer of our strength and our faithful Commander!
