After this it came to pass that David attacked the Philistines, subdued them, and took Gath and its towns from the hand of the Philistines.

I Chronicles 18: 1

Once King David understood the plan of God he stood up and took to fulfilling what had been determined. We needn’t delay to choose a way nor hesitate upon which of them to take as long as the divine will is being revealed to us. It’s true that, step by step, you must look for the directions of The Lord, after all, His Word is the light for our way and lamp for our feet (Psalm 119: 105).

The Scripture says that God will never be confused (I Corinthians 14: 33) and precisely for that reason, today, He wouldn’t take this or that attitude only to change His mind the next day. The decisions of The Lord made for each one of His children will never be changed. If you still don’t know what He has in store for you, you ought to remember the feeling you get every time you read the Bible or every time you listen to the preaching of The Word. Our God never changes (Malachi 3: 6). Therefore His words to you are His very will for your life.

Those who hesitate will go nowhere. They’re just like the waves of the sea which are tossed this and that direction and go nowhere in the end. As soon as you discover your mission you ought to get hands-on, do not look backwards and you must do the work with all your heart. You must never envy nobody’s position, on the contrary, you ought to bless them and if possible, you are to assist them into fulfilling their calling.

David promptly attacked the Philistines who were always a stumbling block for the Israelites. If Joshua had conquered the whole land of Canaan the Philistines would not be there to get in the nerves of the people of The Lord. I want you to know that the children of God have to face a lot of troubles for not strictly fulfilling what they’re told by the Lord. The blessings we don’t take possession today might turn, tomorrow, into barriers for us and our successors.

It’s good to swiftly fulfil the divine ordinances. As you go to battle you’ll see that God is already walking ahead of you. He fights your battles and so there will be no enemy to stand before you. This is your time! Failing to rule along with Christ in the Heavens is wasting time and despising The Lord considering that He has called you up to be victorious over all things.

David kept on collecting his victories. After he had defeated and humiliated the Philistines came the defeat of the Moabites (verse 2) by turning them into his servants and tax-payers. Next, he went off to subdue Hadadezer – king of Zobah – who was then mistakenly feeling strong and who was trying to re-establish his sovereignty by the river Euphrates – a region which became notorious as the mighty Babylon.

David took from that king a thousand chariots, seven thousand horsemen and twenty thousand foot men. Then the Syrians went off to answer Hadadezer’s outcry for help but David defeated them by murdering twenty two thousand men. On top of that, the Syrians also became servants and tax-payers of David who placed guarrisons in Damascus. David never experienced one single defeat. My friend, your journey will also be stunning indeed as long as you willingly give yourself to fulfil your calling.

In Christ, with love,
