Moreover Uzziah had an army of fighting men who went out to war by companies, according to the number on their roll as prepared by Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the officer, under the hand of Hananiah, one of the king’s captains.                                                                   2 Chronicles 26.11

Besides being an expert in agriculture and cattle-raising, Uzziah was a good military strategist, so he knew how to prepare his people for war. It is useless to have a multitude without preparing them for battles. Since the victors got very rich with the spoils, confrontations were common in the past. In fact, combat was usual and advantageous for them.

The king thought of everything, even having an army of men skilled in arms. Victory is won by knowing how to fight well. Every Christian should have this concern. Just as Abraham also knew how to train those who were born in his house, we need to know by heart the revelations given by our Father (Genesis 14.14). They are the servants we will have when facing the attacks of the cunning devil. We cannot live without watching and praying. Believe in the Lord!

Servants must be ready and willing to fight when the temptations of the evil one arise. Those who are ready at the Lord’s return will ascend with Him, but those who are lacking the anointing oil will have to go out and buy, and when they return, they might receive the sad news that the door is already shut (Matthew 25.1-13). Watch and pray so as not to enter into temptation, as Jesus said!

They learned to act in troops, instead of each one following his own will. There must be this kind of teaching in God’s work; otherwise, the battles will be lost. When Jesus multiplied loaves and fishes, he had everyone sit down in ranks of 50 and of 100 (Mark 6.40). The work was only done the moment everyone was ready to receive their portion. What a lesson!

How long did it take for people to be organized that way? That meant something, don’t you think? “What an absurd demand!” someone must have said. Now, the hungry people who had accompanied the Master for three days could faint or dye if they returned home without food. When they heard about the distribution of food, the people believed. Hallelujah!

Hananiah, one of the king’s princes, kept the list with the names of those enlisted to defend the country. It was made by Jeiel, the scribe, and Maaseiah, the officer. Everything was ordered by Uzziah, for he knew that if he lost just once, it would be the end of his reign and of the freedom of his people. Workers must be prepared and trained to have responsibilities.

Nothing happens by chance. In our faith meetings, there are people in charge of cleaning the church, the bathrooms, security, praise, sound and filming. Besides this, the preacher must already come prepared and in the presence of God for the work to be done.

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares

God of miraculous operations! When You operate by healing the sick in our services, most people don't pay attention to how many people participate in the work done and occupy different positions. Help us to improve our preparation of faith in You!

When Your Son was amongst us, doing Your work, He had many who went ahead of Him, in order to prepare the meeting place and the people to receive the message. There were women of means, who financed the expenses and other important resources!

May good people be lifted up by You to support the ministry, intercede for the suffering, and guide those who do not know how to receive Your blessings. Teamwork pleases You, Father!
