And it came to pass, when Israel was strong, that they put the Canaanites under tribute, but did not completely drive them out. Judges 1.28

God had ordered that the ancient dwellers of Canaan should be destroyed, but the people of Israel did not do so when they entered that land. Today, we also have allowed many “dwellers” to continue to live in the land of Good News, where we have been placed. Undoubtedly, our attitude is not the best, and when time passes, our sons may marry the daughters of the Canaanites, and the divine plan for our family and us may be frustrated.

It is useless to have some people that “pay us taxes”. We must carry the Word of God to all creatures and lead these people to become God’s children (Jo 1.12). If we do not do so, we displease He who called us to accomplish His noble mission of bringing the poor and lame to come to the Feast of the Lamb (Lk 14.12-14). We cannot do anything else but preach the Word of God. We have been called to announce the Good News that saves him who believes in the plan of redemption for humanity (Mk 16.15).

However, how can we believe that this may be possible, if we prefer to honor one another? We do not have to receive diplomas that entitle us as great, merited, and important people for society, and other titles. It is better to be hated by all for the love of the name of the Lord, and if necessary, suffer so that the message reaches the lost. Those who serve God in truth do not love the world or the things that are in it.

The Church receives strength to announce the Truth, and not to be part of the wrong attitudes of those who sometimes may even be tithers and supporters of the program. The Kingdom of God does not need the help that the lost can give, but its purpose it to fulfill the redemption plan created in Heaven by the shedding of the blood of the Son of God. His work is much more serious than what is normally said in ‘faith meetings’, where there are thousands of people gathered.

The Church would be correct if it stopped taxing sinners, stopped with great pictures that “prove” that it has much power and many people. What is seen on these pictures is not the glory of God, but the glory of man, who dragged a multitude for an event where the leader is applauded as if that was what Jesus told us to do. Of course, we should have great meetings where multitudes are gathered to be healed, freed, and saved. However, what is important is to see lost souls receiving the Word of God, surrendering to the Lord’s feet and being saved.

It is necessary to expel the Canaanite nature and put on Jesus’ nature, by being reborn. We must terminate the sinful desires in our midst, without minding to the fact that some will not give the “precious tithes” anymore in our hands. What matters is that they may be saved, or that they understand, as we warn them, that if they despise the life in God, they will be eternally tormented. The Lord will bring all those who are called to be part of eternal life.

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares
